  • Maybe we shouldn't have sat outside after all...

My husband and I went out to dinner last night and sat on the restaurant's outdoor patio. It was a nice evening, about 80 degrees and a little breezy so not too hot.

I think I'm paying for it this morning, though. I'm stuffy, sneezy, and my eyes are itchy and watery. I woke up unable to breathe about an hour ago, got up and took a benedryl, and haven't been able to get back to sleep. And my head/sinuses are killing me! Damn you, spring allergies!

    *passes Chlortabs--they seriously rock*

I'm feeling your pain. I've taken more allergy meds in the last couple weeks than I've needed in the past several years combined. *snifflehacksneeze*

Benedryl did finally put me to sleep after about an hour...yay! Except then the cats kept coming in and waking me up. So I made my husband kick them out of the bedroom.

Pollen this year has been horrible. Where we live, the pollen count a couple weeks ago was like 21,000 parts per million...where "high" is considered 1,000 parts per million! Geez! My husband's been feeling it a lot worse than me since his allergies are worse than mine.

I heard on the news that the reason the pollen count is so astronomically high is because of it being colder longer and then warming up too quickly. So instead of the trees and flowers staggering their blooming seasons, EVERYTHING bloomed all at once. And that's why we're all so miserable.

Singulair is fantabulous, along with flonase. Yes they are prescriptions, but so worth it. It's gotten so that zyrtec and claritin don't even touch my allergies... my green car has been changed into a pretty dingy yellow... there is so much pollen around.

I feel your pain--I'm allergic to Texas. Thankfully I'm less allergic to Houston than I am San Antonio or Austin but spring still sucks.

Amazingly, I haven't had my allergies kick my ass yet.

I'm sure it helps that I avoid going outside and we haven't opened the windows for the season.

In Austin, allergic to Oak (apparently the universe thinks this is funny, I don't) and have 2 kinds of Oak tree in front of the door to the office - a couple of weeks ago the oak count was so high and i was reacting so badly that i want to scratch my face off - couldn't breathe, itched from head to toe, and my eyes were swollen too - in short i was miserable. Got some W(drugstore) brand claritian and eye drops, and can now survive.

Pharmacy's all over town are saying to get on some sort of allergy med, and to take it at the frequency you need (ie if you take it everyday you'll build up an immunity and it won' t work take it every other day type thing)
