It's these things and they're really good. I'm in the UK so maybe that makes a difference with knowing about them?

I am relatively certain I have seen my roommate using those washer balls, so I am pretty sure they are available in the U.S. Especially since, ya know, I live in the U.S., and my roommate is from nowhere more foreign than Miami.

Did he stop trashing your room after that? What happened?!Quoth protege View PostAt least I got even after one of those idiots left a huge mess, involving spilled pop all over my desk...and I'd had enough. Seems one of them had been doing his homework, and for whatever reason, left not only a printed copy of his paper...but also the *disk* it was saved on. Needless to say, I destroyed that shit

if it has not been suggested, do the same to them that they have to you? but don't put effort into waiting for the right moment to do it, only if it happens to come along i guess. or if they leave your soggy clothes, stop their load put yours in and continue yours. half dry clothes are often just as bad.
borrow their stuff and "lose it"
got so burned out over this stuff that I try hard to go by this "neither a borrower nor lender I be"

What is a fair trade shop?Quoth Rapscallion View PostUsually in the smaller independent retailers. Oddly enough, you may have more luck in fair trade shops. We supply a fair number of them, and many have supplemented their wares with eco-friendly detergents.

Hell if I know. She doesn't exactly provide me with her shopping itinerary, and I never asked her, since I had no interest in said washer balls. I just saw her using them.Quoth telecom_goddess View PostWell? Where did your roommate get them?? Come on now don't keep me in suspense
I respectfully disagree. This is not only passive-aggressive, but it doesn't address the issue. Also, it stands a good chance of exacerbating the situation rather than resolving it.Quoth LexiaFira View Postif it has not been suggested, do the same to them that they have to you?
Addressing the issue straight on ("Stop doing this shit!" and "Stop taking my stuff!") is, in my opinion, the most constructive and productive way to effect a meaningful change in the situation.

He stopped...after I caught him one afternoon. I came home early from work, and literally threw him out of the room. At least he got stopped by the passwords I'd set up, but still. WTF? As for his paper, he failed on it. Seems he had to rewrite it, because I'd trashed his only copy. Sorry asshole, you deserved it. But, it was only a paper--I could have just as easily beat the living shit out of himQuoth Exaspera View PostDid he stop trashing your room after that? What happened?!

I also used to live with a sister who would take my stuff without my permission. It was made easier when my parents agreed to a lock on my door. If you are able to get that, it will help, as will making sure you get to your laundry before the washer is finished to avoid anyone dumping your clothes. It's a major pain in the ass to have to make sure you never leave any of your stuff unattended out in the house but it works and it will cut down on them taking stuff. It always pissed me off that I had to do stuff like that but if they can't get to your stuff to screw with it, then it does help things."Man, having a conversation with you is like walking through a salvador dali painting." - Mac Hall
