I cut my PC teeth on AppleDOS. Still might have have my Apple ][+ around somewhere (total system cost like 3 or 4K back in 1982).Quoth Evil Queen View PostHey, I cracked my teeth on MSDoS, 80s music, and remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon and my Dad bitched about it.

Sure you are. And I am allowed to roll my eyes and bitch about people in their 20's bitching about feeling old.Quoth Evil Queen View PostI'm bitching I feel old because my coworkers are too young to know what ANY of those things are. So shut up, we're all allowed to bitch and complain.

I'll be ... 38 in October.
I've had CWs and younger friends amazed that:
1. I was 4 1/2 when Elvis died (August, 1977)
2. I remember when Ronald Reagan got shot (and you mean he was an actor besides the President?!?)
3. I remember when John Lennon was shot.
4. Kinda sorta remember the shooting of the Pope.
5. Watched Princess Di & Prince Charles get married on television
6. Space Shuttle disaster - I was in 7th or 8th grade.
7. We first got cable in Nebraska - Omaha - it was a box with a dial.
8. I was a senior in high school when the Berlin Wall came down.
9. I remember when MTV first came on the air.
Okay ... now I feel old. Thank you. I think I'll just take my teeth out, lay down for a nap, and when I get up, I'm going to rock in my rocking chair in a corner of the room and eat apple sauce.

DAMN YOU, GOOGLE!!!
Damn you for putting up that playable Pac Man logo.
I clearly remember playing the arcade version when it came out.
30 years ago today.
Heck, I clearly remember not being able to play the damn game for WEEKS because it was too busy!"Kamala the Ugandan Giant" 1950-2020 • "Bullet" Bob Armstrong 1939-2020 • "Road Warrior Animal" 1960-2020 • "Zeus" Tiny Lister Jr. 1958-2020 • "Hacksaw" Butch Reed 1954-2021 • "New Jack" Jerome Young 1963-2021 • "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 1949-2021 • "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton 1958-2021 • Daffney 1975-2021

Hell, I clearly remember when it came out, and I turned to my friend shortly thereafter and told him that this game was going to be BIG, before it became clear to anyone that that was going to happen. And him looking at me with that, "Yeah, right...whatever dude" completely dismissive look that only a ten year old mocking his friend can muster.Quoth El Pollo Guerrera View PostI clearly remember playing the arcade version when it came out.

[QUOTE=idrinkarum;729233][COLOR="Purple"]I'll be ... 38 in October.
7. We first got cable in Nebraska - Omaha - it was a box with a dial.
39 in September...I also remember, from Omaha, Doctor San Guinary and "Creature Feature" on Saturday nights, and Miss Jean's Storytime on Sunday mornings. For those outside of Omaha, the former was the host of a horror movie show; the latter told Bible stories.
The day Iraq invaded Kuwait-8/2/90-was the day I graduated basic training. Four and a half months later, I was one of the participants of Operation Desert Shield, soon to be Operation Desert Storm.
The coup attempt against Gorbachev, Jeffrey Dahmer getting busted, Pee-Wee Herman getting busted...I was a young soldier in Germany.
Something funny-in the late 90s, my little brother was one of Marilyn Manson's biggest disciples. Our mother made the comment that Manson was to the kid brother what Alice Cooper and Ozzy were to my older brother's and my generations, respectively. That brought to mind two things-what's coming down the line in the future, and do I really want to know what that will be?
Other things-what Michael Jackson looked like before he went bananas with the plastic surgery.
When Madonna was shocking.
"Dallas" and the whole "Who Shot JR?" thing. Plus other prime time soaps like "Dynasty" and "Falcon Crest."
The original "V" miniseries, the sequel, and the TV show. There was also a comic book and numerous paperback originals. As an aside, the new "V", the head lizard has nothing on DIana as far as evil.
"We Are the World"
When the Hoff was "Knight Rider."
When Han shot first.

Quoth Evil Queen View PostI remember when MTV had music.
This I remember.
And it's funny that I found this thread tonight, as I had a friend ask me about 30 minutes ago "The what series?" when I said I wish I had a copy of the Wrinkle in Time series.

How has anyone not read A Wrinkle in Time, the first book, let alone the series? How can they not know what a tesseract is?!

Oh, I used to love "Space 1999". I was actually thinking of picking up the series on DVD. That and the "UFO" series, which I remember seeing at least once but have no clear memory of.
Now, as for television... I remember a British show (it had the Thames production thing at the beginning) that had teenagers that were psychics or something, with an underground base, and they teleported to other planets to fight crime. Each story would take several episodes to resolve.
Can anyone name this for me? I'd like to find if it's available in North America on DVD..."Kamala the Ugandan Giant" 1950-2020 • "Bullet" Bob Armstrong 1939-2020 • "Road Warrior Animal" 1960-2020 • "Zeus" Tiny Lister Jr. 1958-2020 • "Hacksaw" Butch Reed 1954-2021 • "New Jack" Jerome Young 1963-2021 • "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 1949-2021 • "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton 1958-2021 • Daffney 1975-2021

Not questions at me but..
When I go into a music store (remember when they just sold MUSIC and any videos were concerts?) and ask for CSN or SDNY they hand me CSN:NY on DVD.
They have no idea what I'm asking for CTA, ELO, BOC, or CCR.
I ask for Chicago, Boston, or Kansas and they tell m they don't sell airline tickets.
