Athena was renamed Pepper - and she does fit that name (she's a spicy girl!)

Sara already has Kiri's next two litters planned out, too and possibly Luna's first.

Her temperature dropped earlier today but it is back to normal now.

Um, not to be the Debbie Downer here, but with that many puppies, I wouldn't be naming anything before it hatched, so to speak.

Yes, we both know litters this large are high risk but it is important to think positively!

We got digital shots of her x-rays. I colored them - red circles and lines represent actual / confirmed puppies. Green sets are duplicates (on both - they're red on one, green on the other - don't count green). Blue are possible puppies.




Yes, she needed two X-rays. Still no temperature drop.

Edit: My wife thinks I might have missed one in the very top of the first one - the vets think they saw a skull in there but it was obstructed by Kiri's bowels (talk about a shitty spot to be in!)

At the vet yesterday she weighed 94 pounds - her normal weight is about 70.

My friend's mom's bassett hound had 11 (with her sister's black lab; yes it was an oops). Sadly 3 didn't survive but the rest were adopted out. They kept one - she definitely resembles her mother more than her father.
