  • Name that book.

So i was thinking of a book lately and i can not for the life of me remember its name.

It had a girl who was the oldest child of a family and unbabtised in a major evil cult like religion that her stepfather belongs too but her father didn't.
She practices an ancient almost outlawed peganistic religion of symbols and magic in private and secrete instead.

When shes about 16 her stepfather arranges a marrage and demand she becomes babtised and when she protests he whips her and hits her hand cutting an arrow shaped symbol into it.

She runs away. Meets an otter like creature who befriends her and has a path keep forming infront of her out of the blue. She is being chased by the evil cult because the demon god wants her.

She gets to a secret island that houses the beings of power in her religion and sets out to fix a magic lake.

she meets a man with a hawk she falls in love with too.

i know the name had like name broken arrow or arrow path or something like that and was rather good if not alittle simplestic in places.

    any ideas.

...I can't say I've ever heard of it and my Google-Fu is not strong enough, but I want whatever the author was on at the time!
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

sounds like a mercedes lackey novel ... it is really ringing a bell too.
EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

The group said it was The Hidden Arrow of Maether by Aiden Beaverson.

Link to the book on Barnes and Noble:

That is definitely NOT Mercedes Lackey. I would have remembered, since I've read 99% of her books.

                You too, eh?

It also doesn't fit any of her main series.
