look up the website for the drug, or google Lexapro + drug interactions (drugs.com or webmd.com are good sites to check). Aleve is not on the list.

I take not only lexapro, but 1 blood pressure med, 1 thyroid med, and 2 asthma meds. I haven't had any reactions yet.

Lexapro is awesome! I take 30 mg. That's a pill & a half. It really helps. Trust me.

I'm the same way whenever I have to take a new drug. I'm always afraid of having a bad reaction, and I have to obsessively read all the info that comes with it just so I know what to expect if it happens. Never mind that I've never, ever had a bad reaction any drug. The worst I had from Effexor was dizziness (felt like I was drunk for the first week, which is what the doctor predicted; had to have my parents/boyfriend drive me to/from work).

              5mg is TINY with Lexapro.

Just take the damn thing, it takes 2-3 weeks to really make much of a difference, and if you don't like how it's acting, withdrawal from that dose is very mild anxiety for a few days, at most.

It's a very good med, I'd still be on it if it was cheaper, but I've switched to Celexa... Celexa is available as a generic, so it's $4/month for me.

Celexa is an earlier version of Lexapro. It's pretty much the same thing, but from what I read when I got my scrip, Lexapro is more refined and as a result has fewer side effects.

You are not stupid, you're just as frightened about taking a new medication you've not taken before, as I am about taking a medication (steroid) right now for an arm thing problem.

It may take about 10 days. Glad you took it!

I don't know about Lexapro, but with Effexor I felt a difference within a couple weeks. (Years ago, I took Paxil for 3 months and couldn't tell you if it did any good or not.)

The problem with reading that stuff is that people who've had bad experiences tend to be very angry or upset about it and are much more likely to write about it in online forums and stuff. The many more people who've had good responses, or are even just neutral about the whole topic, aren't as likely to do so. (The same way there are many more complaints than compliments on Planet Feedback and other such sites.) There are a lot of horror stories out there, but odds are they won't happen to you. It's good to know what you might expect if something does go wrong, but if you get too sucked into reading all the bad stuff, it'll paralyze you.

When I was looking for information on getting off the Effexor, I found that the horror stories far outweighed the actual useful information. So you gotta try to filter what you read. There are some good sites out there.

haha after i found the horror stories i specifically looked for the good stories

well since taking my first dose last night i seem to be fine. i did have some pain in my stomach briefly but that went away. though i have been yawning, which many people mentioned. but whatevs.

more of my paranoia...if i were to have side effects from this, would i have experienced them already?

the one i would be worried about is weight gain. 10lbs wouldnt affect me too bad, but more than that i wouldnt be happy
