  • I just had to do something that was a lot harder than I thought. (Image heavy)

I updated our kennel site to include the loss of one of our dogs.

We had to put MacLeod down a few weeks ago and I procrastinated for obvious reasons.

He is missed. He was my wife's first service dog and is the only creature that calling him "Mister Perfect" wasn't meant as a back-handed compliment or in sarcasm.

At least he's playing with his two best canine friends, Mango and Lakota.

      Funny story about those.

My wife decided to take a "scenic" route home one day when we lived in Highlands, NJ.

Instead of taking Main St to Miller St and heading to our apartment, she took Shrewsbury Ave all the way (coastal street) and a ball of fur ran out in front of her car. Apparently, a mother cat had a litter (we only found 3 kittens) and abandoned them. We took them in and nursed them to health. We kept one (Sebastian - the one lying down) and adopted the rest out. (When we got them my wife guessed they were less than two days old)

MacLeod acted like their surrogate mother - allowing them to burrow in his fur for warmth and he was rather protective of them, too.

I'm IGNORING the FACT that YES I AM CRYING, if only because his face looks so similar to my last dog [KC] that passed away. NO I DON'Y NEED A TISSUE, I'M NOT CRYING.

Oh man, I love collies. Grew up with them, always have a soft spot for them.

We had to put McShane down a few years ago - another collie - but he was just a few weeks shy of turning 15. It got to where he was deaf, blind in one eye, and could barely walk, and when another health problem came up we had the make the difficult decision (he got bloated... and the vet said he probably wouldn't survive the surgery).

My parents now have another collie, Diego... he makes a rock look smart, but really sweet and affectionate.

                        This is McShane:

Can't find a picture of Diego, but he's a tri color collie, primarily black.

Oh, all these piccies of Collies makes me think of my family's first dog, a Shetland Sheepdog
Susie was awesome, and I keep seeing a Sheltie around my neighbourhood thinking that Susie was a bit larger than it. I told Mum this and she said "That's because she probably was, she was tall for a Sheltie" I thought that maybe it was just that Susie died when I was 7(?) and everything just looks smaller now
