  • The gauntlet has been laid down.

So. I'm tired of how long it is taken for these idiot doctors who say I need help to get fixed, but don't want to lift a finger on doing a damn thing, leaving me to limp with pain and damn near tears without painkillers which I'm rapidly becoming immune too and I fear maybe even addicted. (Unsure on that).

Anyway, I have yet another appointment with another orthropedic (Who I'm willing to bet you all a billion bucks, he will do an xray, tell me I need a hip replacement, but won't do it or give me any idea who will, refer me to another doctor who will repeat with xray, tell me I need a hip replacement, but won't do it, ad hoc....). I don't have a billion to give, but anyone that takes this bet is a sucker because that is exactly what the last twenty doctors have done.

Anyway, my favorite aunt has taken me on as her cause. She's worked with doctors her whole life. Hell, when I was born it was her that managed to get everything on neurofibromatosis while my mom was still in shock of what I was born with. It was her that took care of Natasha and all her doctors and medical care before she died of Cancer. (I've talked about her before).

Alot of family doesn't like her for some reason, considering her mean and scary. I've always gotten along with her great, and no-one will refute that she is my fave aunt, even the aunts of the family that have huge egos and need to be the center of everything and everyone don't even refute THAT. But she cares deeply for everyone. She's going with me to next doctor. She will get every little detail out of him, and will get this operation done much sooner then everyone does. She works at a hospital and knows how to get through stuff. I'm very happy.

Maybe I'll finally be able to walk for long periods of time rather then down the street before I collasp and cry and limp home to lay down while swallowing tons of painkillers.

I am so sorry that you're hurting, and I hope this next appointment goes better than the others. *crosses fingers*

Having someone with you who has at least some idea of how the medical world operates can make all the difference in the world. I hope things go better this time and you actually get some answers.

Probably because she knows when, where and how to be Mean And Scary. It's sad, but some people just won't do their jobs until they are threatened or bullied into it. I'm sorry you're getting the runaround with these doctors. (Ask you aunt if you have any recourse against them, for wasting your time and money.)

Best of luck to you, Plaidman. Give them hell, Aunt Meanie!

Plaid.. you might want to get in contact with someone at Boston Medical. That is the epicenter of NF treatment.

I know that I might be starting to have my NF really start to take form as I'm having concentration problems and some headaches. Thankfully I have a good doctor I'm going to be seeing next month (and good insurance).

                    Plaidy,

It's great to have an advocate in your corner. Someone who's willing to fight with you thru the red tape and crap.

Hugs and good luck, hope you get Mr. Hip fixed.

Slight update, my appointment for other doctor is at end of month, but there is a silvering lining.

I've been approved for three months of help from Kaiser.

Meaning all my prescriptions and walk in appointments are FREE.

That should buy me time, and save alot of money I never had.
