Am I the only one that hated this movies?

OK the other night, my gf and I deceived to throw on a couple of movies. She insisted we watch Juno and Little Miss Sunshine, two movies I had never seen and that she absolutely adores.

Seeing has I had only heard rave reviews for both these movies, and the fact that gf and I generally have very similar tastes I thought it was a good idea.

My thoughts on each movie:

Juno-- Helen Page did a really good job as Juno and the soundtrack was pretty good. Everything else sucked!! The movie was boring, the dialogue was horrible and flat. The story had potential to be good, but nowhere did I even come close to caring about what happened to anybody. All the characters are so unsympathetic it's not even funny. Finally, whoever thought of putting Micheal Cera in the lead romantic role needs to be drug out in the street and shot


Little Miss Sunshine-- The little girl is cute and there was a couple of nice moments with the grandfather. Steve Carell ( who I normally don't care for) did a really good job. I HATED the dad I wanted to reach out a strangle the bastard!! I just found the movie to be really uninteresting and one-note just really whatever to me


I really don't understand the appeal to either of these films

Now everyone I mention this too is shocked that I didn't care for these movies. Some just assume that I must only like action packed movies with lots of explosions and just can't appreciate a smartly written film ( that's completely untrue and insulting!)


so am I the only one in the world who doesn't like these films?

Couldn't tell you if I liked them or not, I haven't had the slightest urge to want to watch either of them

the reason people like them is because they are writen directed and acted to be like watching real life events.

The dialog is dialog a real person would have, the evens are events real people deal with and even the couples have real issues and flaws.

I tried watching them sometime ago but couldn't get more than a few minutes into them before changing the channel.

I really loved Little Miss Sunshine. I found it to be really funny and heartwarming without being too sugar-y sweet. It's really one of my favorite comedies. Plus, it's nice to know that Steve Carrell can do something other than his usual schtick, y'know? Oh, and Nietzsche references. Those are always fun.

I never saw Juno, I don't care for Ellen Page or Michael Cera, and being a stripper does not qualify you to be a screenwriter, tyvm, Diablo Cody. It never even appealed to me, not in the slightest.

I thought Juno was amusing but then again I only saw it once and was with a bunch of friends so we were half watching half talking and joking around and I think it would have been a bit boring if I was watching it without friends (but the sound track is awesome). I couldn't stand Little Miss Sunshine, I just thought it was dumb.

Juno had it's funny moments, but I'm not a fan of making fun of getting knocked up, especially since it can truly ruin someone's life. It's why I stopped following Scrubs so hardcore up until this last season.

Juno didnt make light of teen pregnancy.
Juno spent the whole movie in an emotional tormile over getting pregnant, her feelings for the father, giving the baby up, and her own mother issues for her birth mother abandoning her as a child and her never allowing her stepmother to love her the way she wanted.
She just tried to hide behind snarky comments

I loved Little Miss Sunshine. Matter of fact, everyone knew how much I loved that movie that I ended up getting two copies of it on DVD for christmas.

Juno didnt make light of teen pregnancy.

It made getting knocked up into a comedy. I know it didn't glamorize it, but it still made it into a comedy and that just doesn't sit well with me. Though she did a great job as an actress in that role.

I never seen the movies and never had any desire to really see them, either. I don't see the appeal in them myself.
