Crazy Cat Person needs advice from other Crazy Cat Persons.
I also work with a rescue. I currently have 11 cats in the house. 2 are fosters. As far as getting a friend for your Piggy, it will mostly be based on how you introduce them. The shelter may know how the cats do with other cats, but probably not unless they've been fostered. If you can isolate new kitty in your bathroom for a few days & let the work things out under the door that would be ideal. Let Pig go in and sniff around & new kitty out to do the same. Gradual introductions can help things go smoother.
Yeah I gave this advice to someone else too. I'm just worried about shelter kitty (well, its obvious I'm going to adopt her at this point, right?) being traumatized. I'm sure she'll be fine though. I'll lock her up in my room since Pig (or sully, depending on how you feel about him) has decided he's too good for me and sleeps in the hallway.
Pig.

Well.. I was on my way to staples to buy a fancy 23" LCD monitor.
But I accidentally drove the wrong way.
And accidentally pulled into the animal shelter.
And accidentally gave them my credit card information.
And completely didn't realize there was a cat in that box.
Say hello to the spastic "Tawny" (shelter name, pending name change). She's already playing AND has tried to kill herself. Shes picking up my other cats toys and throwing them around. So far shes tried to eat a pencil, spare change, and a name tag. I'm kind of afraid to go to work.
PICSPAM TIME.
Someone is going to have some tail-envy....
Speaking of, I locked sully in the bathroom for a bit so she can have run of the house to investigate for an hour or two and you'd swear he's in there being tortured. "OH GOD I CAN'T DO WHATEVER I WANT SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE ABUUUUUUSEEEEEEEEE" So being the big weeny I am, I put a plate of gushy food in there. "Tawny" wouldn't touch the dry so I gave her a little bit and shes tentatively snacking on it.
edit: As a result of Sully and the new cat meeting I think I found a name for her. Heres how it went.
Sully: WTF DID YOU BRING HOME, HUMAN?
New Cat: *flips over, shows belly*
Sully: *glares*
New Cat: Mewwwwww.
Sully: HISSSSS *runs away*
New Cat: *plays with a string*
I dont know if anyone cares, buuuuuut.. I went to work (9 hours) tonight. I locked up Sully in my bedroom and let Nermal have the run of the house. I came home and she followed me around a bit and let me pet her. I let Sully out of the room so they could meet again and he sniffed her, groomed her slightly, and walked off. Obviously, its love.

It took Mitchell (oldest boycat) about 3 days total to get acclimatised to Oscar (baby boycat).
They're both neutered and while they haven't been humping each other, there have been a few times when either mum, dad, sister fireheart or myself have caught Oscar having to put Mitchell in a headlock (so to speak-he just puts his front paws around Mitchell's head) so Oscar can clean Mitchell's head. It's the funniest thing ever.
Oh and in terms of toys, when Mitchell was still a kitten, Mum bought home this stuffed tiger cub. She placed it on the bed with the larger tiger we have (and Oscar the sook now uses it to get to sleep). Go out, come back and Mitchell walks up to the door to say hello....
with the entire tiger cub IN HIS MOUTH. He was basically holding it by the "neck" and presented it to us. What made it hilarious was that it was this tiny little head holding this gigantic cat toy! Unfortunately he doesn't play with it anymore since the two of them will chase one another around the house.
Ruby and "Chuck" Morris were owned by the same person, but when she died, they were fostered out to different people.
I've had them, and only them, for 2 months and 3 days, and there are still jealousy issues going on. Nothing serious, just a bit of hissing and swiping, but still
I don't know if its so much jealousy anymore as Sully not knowing his size. He doesn't hiss at her anymore. But they'll get rambunctious and start playing really rough to where i separate them. But I woke up this morning and they were snuggled up together sleeping in my room. She was partially laying on him.

no advice really but just have to say your kitty sounds wonderful. I love the picture of him on the car. I swear I can hear him say, "where were you I am hungry" Give him hugs and a belly scratch for me
All this, and orange cats are my absolute favorite.
"Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably
I bought that, got a discount (10%) and it got here yesterday. Me and a friend are building it today so they have something to investigate/fight over while I'm at work. However.. they seem to enjoy the closed, taped off box so much.. I don't know if they'll enjoy the tree as much.
125$ cat tree < a box, naturally.

The more $$ you spend on kittehs, the less they like the item. Boxes are free and make kittehs happy
Though I do want to get my furry jerks a cat tree....right now they just have a small post they sit on.

The only advice I can give you is for after the fact. Everyone else has dealt with the whole "similar temperaments" thing. when you do bring kitty #2 home, don't rush into introductions. I'd recommend planning a quarantine room for the second kitten, he/she gets to live there for one week, no face to face meetings. This not only will get them used to each-other ((through the doors)) but if the other cat had caught anything from the shelter your piggy won't run the risk of catching it. After that first week ((provided new kitten has no signs of the ICK)) swap the cats out for 3-4 days, let new kitten have run of the place and piggy kitten gets to be in the room for a few days and get used to the smell.
Then you can let them meet face to face and see how it goes.
It sounds like a lot of hassle... but cats are weird and you usually only get one chance, that first meeting is what sticks with them. the only time I'd recommend not doing that is if you really feel like they are doing well and progressing faster than the time frame. ((I've had cats take 3 months to get accustomed to each-other, where others have done so in like 3 days....soooooo yeah...))
Edit so I'm an idiot and posted before I read through all three pages and realized you had already brought Nermal home. She is supper cute ^_^ and the name is perfect. Congrats on your new fluff!
I like the cat tree that Lizziebeff and Mommy got for my brats, but that one...holy biscuit!!!! The cats wouldn't know what to do with themselves!!!!!!
Unseen but seeing oh dear, now they're masquerading as sane-KiaKat There isn't enough interpretive dance in the workplace these days-Irv 3rd shift needs love, too

I'm giving them an entire wall I'm filling with cat trees, condos, etc. Neglected and abused those two
