My 2 daughters are at school now and I came home walked into the girls bedroom to feed the rabbit and guinea pigs and found the poor little bunny dead

I just buried her and my daughter is going to be crushed, she loved that rabbit

I don't know how i'm going to tell her

When my daughter was about 4 years old, she had a goldfish that lived for years - it was a succession of about 15 different fish. They didn't even look alike. Every time she told me that Tinkerbell was asleep (floating) I would tell her that I would clean the fishbowl while she took her nap. As soon as she was asleep, I would call my brother and he would bring another goldfish from his aquarium. She never noticed the difference.

I'm not a fan of fooling kids about the death of a pet.

This is an opportunity for you to sit down and discuss death with your kids. For them to understand that it's very sad, but unfortunately pets don't live as long as we do, and they do die. See if they want to have a little funeral over the grave, or draw pictures for the bunny, as well as making sure they know that they can get another one, but it won't be the same bunny. Also check with a local library to see if they have any books geared towards your kids' ages regarding death or the death of a pet.

I did notice that the bunny was having trouble hopping and she very thin, no matter how much she ate, but I think in the end it was the cold that may have killed, it's been getting to -3 degrees lately and even though we kept her inside, when the A/C gets turned off when I went to bed it gets really cold in the house.

I did tell her what happened, I showed her where I buried her, she taking it pretty well so far, I am ready for the tears later on when it sinks in.

I don't think we will get another, it's just too cold.

My parents lied to me about the dogs at the farm until I was an adult. I know it should have occurred to me that a border collie doesn't live 20+ years, but the fact that the dog was there every time I showed up never fazed me.

But I really wish they'd have trusted me with the truth though. I mean, it didn't make losing my grandparents at a young age any easier. (thank goodness they couldn't just go out to the store to replace THEM!)

Most A/C's have a heating option - at least, all the one's I've seen in South Africa do

I have a reverse cycle a/c, it can really warm the house up.

woo neat! Mine just does cold. I've never seen one that does both
