OK, a bit of fun....
Having gone from one article to another on Wikipedia, this is a list of games I'd like to see either redone in Australia, just aired here in general, or brought back to Aussie TV:
Brought Back to TV
-Amazing: this is a kid's one, but it's still a favourite. The kids were required to guess a word, spell it out on a giant keyboard and then venture into a maze to get the letters. (that's the basic gist of it) Later on, they'd play a game on a video game system (it used to be Gnat Attack and then Mario Kart).
-Gladiators: I'm including this one as while it's an International format, I particularly loved the AUstralian game. The only difference was that Thunder should've been named Truck instead of Thunder. (the guy was HUGE and in a good way)
-The Rich List: I think this one's on hiatus. If they re-did some of the categories so they weren't THAT obscure, I'd be happy.
Aired in Australia
-The Mole: The Australian one was OK, kinda meh at times, but still a good one (a good reminder that contestants are not above the law when filming, as quite a few of the contestants were done by the police for various driving offences during challenges). I wouldn't mind seeing one of the overseas versions, both as a comparison and also to see the game types that aren't done in Australia for various reasons.
Wipeout: Yes, I know they're doing a new series. But I love watching the other two seasons and I can't get them on hulu since I'm not from the US.
-The Cube: This falls into both my "aired in Australia" and "I want a version of this done for Australia" categories. Why? I've watched a couple of episodes and I am HOOKED. No bias, no judging, no accusations of rigging. And EVERYONE is affected by it. It's also interesting to watch simple tasks being done in The Cube (and I have fun trying to do the ones where you're required to press a button or give a number after a period of time)
Made For Australia:
Trapped!: Another kids show and at the moment, a secret guilty pleasure of mine. Kind of like Survivor (the challenges and the voting) meets The Mole (sabotage) in a way, six kids are imprisoned in a rickety old tower and are required to do challenges to get out. As they go down each floor, someone tries to sabotage the challenge that they do, while the others work to pass the challenge. AFter each challenge is passed (or failed), they vote on who they think the saboteur is and why. If they pass, the saboteur is automatically trapped. If they fail, it could be any of them.
The Cube: see above. (Shaun Micallef would make a GREAT host for this actually!)
Talkin About Your Generation/Good News Week/Rockwiz: All three of these already air in Australia, but I'd love to see them done with contestants instead of various comedians/celebrities. The premise of each one is the same: they compete to earn points. Talkin ABout Your GEneration has a mix of questions relating to the three most recent generations (Gen Y, Gen X and Baby Boomer), Good News Week talks about current media events and Rockwiz is about...music stuff. Keep the hosts obviously.
Wipeout-it could work IF they recast the hosts into people we love and done the course anywhere else but Argentina.
Thank God You're Here-again, with everyday folk instead of celebrities. The idea is simple: person is dressed up as something i.e. a fireman, a cheerleader, a cricketer etc., they walk through the "blue door" (or enter from another part of the set for various reasons) and are required to improvise a scene with an ensemble cast.
