  • Sooo....Anyone here BALD?! (rogaine questions)

    So, some randomness here.

My hubby is worried about his lack of hair coming in. Hes only 27 and its really bothering him. Hes started looking into Rogaine and I wanted to know if anyone here has had success with it? Have you used the foam or oil or even pills? Feel free to PM me if you dont wanna be public about it. but I really would like some input on this before we start spending all this money that we really dont have.

Personally, I'm going bald, and I really don't care, so I use nothing (not to say that the feeling of wind in my hair won't be missed). My younger brother has been using Rogaine for a few years now, and it's definitely slowed the loss of hair, but it hasn't caused regrowth or stopped the loss. Granted, Rogaine affects different people differently, so it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, and you'll lose nothing but a few bucks and a bit of time.

Personally, I find bald men sexy!

I know some who have used Rogaine and have had results similar to what Midorikawa posted.

I actually used Rogaine when I was younger (started going bald at about 20). What I found was that what came back in was very fine, but it did show some regrowth. Keep in mind that my experience was with the pump spray when it first came out. It may have improved since then.

I pretty much gave up using it, as I started cutting my hair shorter and didn't notice the bald portion as much. If I could convince my wife to let me shave it completely, I would.

A friend of mine uses Rogaine and also saw a slowing of hair loss. It's enough to keep him buying it.

Thanks guys. My hubby is really looking for something that will help with regrowth as he hates the spot that is already there but at least it would prevent further shedding for a time. Maybe ill suggest he go to his family doc...or call Bosley.. Lol.

I started losing my hair around 18. Very thin on top and landing pad towards the back. :-) The scientific term for it is Premature Kojakulation.

I also shave it because I HATE how thin hair looks.

Oh, I have got to remember that term.

I tried Rogaine back when I noticed my hair thinning in back, and my hairline receding. This was back before the foam, etc. I used it exactly twice and tossed it because it made my hair stiff and brittle feeling. I likened it to having too much hairspray in my hair. I hated it.

The next week, I went down and had it shaved off. Been that way ever since.

I rub my hubby's balding patch ... it may not help very much, and the patch hasn't actually grown. So who knows At least he gets a mini massage out of it.

Hubby uses the Nioxin scalp treatment. The first few months he used it he only used the shampoo and conditioner and it slowed down the thinning a bit. Since then his hairstylist told him he needs to actually use the leave in treatment too. So far, he just started the leave in treatment and hasn't seen results, but it has only been a few weeks. To see any results we have to wait six months.

It is expensive, at almost two hundred dollars for the two family size bottles and teeny treatment, but it smells divine. It feels amazing.. and so far it has made my hair even better, much to hubby's chagrin. I have to remind him I've never had a problem with my hair and it has always been healthy whereas his has been fine as a baby and with a super oily scalp. There is less to 'fix' with my hair than with his.

Nioxin is also the only shampoo that honestly gets rid of the sheer glop of grease he suffers from. He has the type of hair that he washes it in the morning, doesn't use product and by the end of the night it feels like he smeared a tub of goo on there. Well, at least with other brands. This minty stuff doesn't do any of that.

This is also one of those products we both can use. Nothing irritates me more than buying a shampoo for me and another for him. I'd be ticked off if I HAD to buy my own shampoo/conditioner considering this treatment is so expensive.

This is more of a scalp treatment. It helps with dandruff, clogged pores and stuff the like. There are various reasons for hair loss, genetics, crappy scalp, terrible diet, lack of vitamins etc. I say go to the doctor route. :P

I am balding, no matter how much I try to deny it. But, then again, that just means I'm that much closer to shaving my head and wearing ridiculous wigs... Bright Pink all the way!
I had an idea the other day of buying and wearing a zentai suit and getting a ridiculously curly wig to wear over it... so, featureless being with awesome hair!
