  • New addiction advice?

I'm looking for a new game to play online to kill my boredom at home. I played Tibia for a bit, but gave up due to the huge amount of players killing me for no apparent reason, and the bots. Ugh, hot I hated the bots.

I guess I'm looking for one that would be pretty close to WoW or Tibia, but not as time-consuming. I also would prefer not to pay money for it. (Most are free with the option of paying for in-game extras)

    Any suggestions?

The only free game like that I can think of off the top of my head is Diablo II.

I just reinstalled on my computer now that Blizzard has released a new patch, and it's somewhat Vista compatible.

I don't play online since I lost my original CD cover years ago, and I really don't feel like paying for the game again. But I know that it's one of the more popular ones out there,

I just found a game called "Eternal Lands", very addicting, but kinda slow. I can tell it's one of hose games that are filled with bots and time-consuming quests (I'm a real 'instant gratification' kinda person). It's going well so far though.

Dungeons & Dragons online is pretty ok since it went free, and Lord of the Rings online is going free soon. DDO even has most of the pay content available for free players if they're willing to put in the time to gain enough rep points in-game to buy it from the store.

I'd also point you to armorgames.com for a bunch of freeware browser games. Protector IV is a current fave--basically an RPG tower defense game. There are some other gems in there too.

I don't know if they're still doing the free version of Anarchy Online but it's a pretty good diversion. (Haven't re downloaded it since I upgraded my computer.) I second DDO being pretty good. Lord of the Rings is fun too although I haven't played past the trial. I may pick that one up when it goes free to play.

For a one-time fee (aka, buying the game) you can get the entire Guild Wars trilogy (barring the Eye of the North expansion) for under 40$.

Might be worth checking out if you like your MMOs to be combat-heavy with a decent story, and cutscene voice acting that's so bad it's good.
