  • Its just a Sonic

So, a Sonic opened in CT after years of commercials "taunting" us.

Wow. A new place to buy burgers and fries. Who cares? Ha.....was just watching the news, and they are diverting traffic because of the expected crowds. Okay, I see the novelty (I probably will never go there, no veg options and not near me) but really? The state will get bored with it in two weeks.

Well, any nutmeggers here who go...I hope the wait is short and the food is hot

Even if you don't eat burgers, Sonic does have some nummy shakes and limeades. Oooh, and tots. I love their tots. Dangit, now I'm hungry.

Similar thing happened in my home town when an Arbys opened. It's a tiny little town of only a few thousand people so anytime something new opened up, especially something like a fast food chain (not sure why people were more excited about fast food restaurants than actual restaurants...) it was big news. And Arbys was stupidly busy and popular the first couple weeks it was opened. After a couple months, though, it was usually pretty dead because the staff wasn't all that great and the food wasn't always right.

Sonic is all about the slushes, as jedimaster91 has already said, but their food isn't bad.

Up till last year sometime the closest Sonic was out of state. One weekend I got so irked at being teased by their commercials, Mom and I went for a drive...I just didn't tell her how long of a drive it was. SO WORTH IT. We then headed to the beach for some lake Michigan water and too take home sand and deal with it for the next couple days.

Then we got a Sonic here, it was packed for weeks on end, then winter came. And the people came in small groups. It's like someone was brave and then everyone else followed suit. The workers said it was the weirdest thing. Then spring came and boom packed again. Now it's thinning out a bit but they still are constantly busy with at least two or three cars.

After years of getting teased by the commercials on TV, the First Sonic opened in our area about 2 years ago..For the first 2 or 3 months.. The place was so packed that they had created an area in adjoining parking lot, so they could line up the cars to wait. It wait was typically around 30 - 45 mins wait back then. Since then, they opened up a second one on the other side of town, and are opening up a new one tomorrow, literary around the corner from my house.

Sonic is delicious and entirely worth having traffic diverted.

Mmmmmmm Sonic. I'm not a huge fan of their burgers but their tots, drinks and ice cream are amazing. I used to bribe myself with a cherry limeaid to get myself to go to work on Saturdays.

I once waited 1/2 hour for 2 milkshakes @ Sonic....after 3 seperate workers came out to see if I had gotten my order yet and I kept telling them no. So much for a quick afternoon treat. I got a giftcard for my inconvenience.

Theyre not bad, as far as food goes. On par with other fast food places.

Hey, Renoites are famous for being lemmings heading off the cliff with new openings... when Crispy Creme opened there was a 3 hour wait, when In and Out Burger opened there was a 4 hour wait (as a side note, it is a 90 minute drive to the next closest In and Out with almost no wait, you could have driven to another state, gotten your food, and made it back before you would have ordered at the Reno location)... they actually caused a backup on the freeway because of their line (NHP loved them, in the first weekend alone they were able to issue over 100 tickets if memory serves for obstructing traffic).
