  • The Good, the Bad, the Weird (Movie, Spoilers)

So my friend G took me to this movie the other night. We both loved it. She's thinking about going to see it again. Her other friend told her she had to see it.

It's a Korean Western so it has subtitles. But it's a near nonstop action packed movie. Some funny scenes. It's about three people (The good guy, the bad guy, and the wierd guy) struggle to get the lost treasure. The good guy and the wierd guy team up. The bad guy was originally hired to find the map, but the wierd guy stole it first. When the bad guy saw the good guy, he changed his plans to chase them, not to get treasure but to kill the good guy. (Seems' they have a history).

Anyway, lots of fun action pack scenes. Not to mention a nice few twists.

But why do I love this movie? Well, lots of reasons. But first off, the bad guy, played by Lee Byung-hun (He was Storm Shadow in the live action GI JOE movie) is the freaking Wild West JOKER!

He wears a impeccible tail suit through out the movie. (plain black, but still).

He is very willing to kill everyone, betray everyone, and even kills his own henchmen if they didn't move fast enough.

He has a near fanatical obession with the hero (and wierd guy) To prove that he can kill them and be the best. He will even kill other people if they imply that they were going to kill the good guy.

He shoots alot of people, but also gains a taste of slashing people to ribbons for fun.

He thinks life is very funny in the fact that people will struggle with all their will to live, when everyone is doomed to die.

It's a pretty good movie in general. Even the good guy does some very batman like stunts (However, unlike Batman, the good guy does kill alot of people. But there is one scene where he is swinging along a rope in a long circle killing people left and right with his shotgun).

It's not just a pointless action movie like it seems I'm doing. But... at least read some reviews or something. Or watch a trailer or two. Or better yet, go watch it.

Oh, this sounds like it might be the one my in-laws watched on the plane back from Korea, but with a different translation of the name (I can't remember what they quoted the title as being). Did it involve several hundred Japanese dying while the good guys got nary a scratch?

Near the end, when the japanese army charged them...? Yeah.

        But to be fair....

The Good guy charged them from behind, picking them off, before shooting one of the jeeps carring a soldier with a minigun, his death made him spin that thing around alot, killing lots and lots.

The bad guy used dynmate to blow up the japan army vans carry more explosions, causing much more death among the ranks.

Of course the wierd guy was just trying to escape, and so only killed a few of the Japan army.

I think it's the same one. (My in-laws only noted that because they had been so exposed to the anti-Japanese bent in Korean culture during their trip).
