  • Storms!

any CTers get hit with the storms today? I was in plainville at one point and saw the sky..i freaked. seriously, clouds were moving a way i havent seen before. so we took off. got to new britain and got the crazy wind and rain, and the hail. turns out hartford county was under a tornado warning at the time.

i know CT gets tornadoes. only a few a year on average. but it seems like with every storm now, theres a risk of tornadoes. so either the weather has gotten worse, or the weathermen are a little to watch/warning happy

Nothing when I was at work, but on the way to my parents* to let their dogs out, I was in a monsoon!! Ruined my Birks in a big puddle

*reason I had to let the pups out, my family when to the NYY game....I knew they were going, no biggie...was just annoying when my mom called be from the stadium saying, "wish you were here!!" I'd be there if you invited me!!! Ha. (early bday gift to my brother)

i went to a yankees game once, but that was the old stadium

i got scared, i thought the hail would break something. while the hail seemed small, it was loud, and there was plenty of it!

I was watching a report on the news last night about the storms. All those trees down in New Caanan! It looked very startling.

We got some lightning here in the City, but no rain.

              Huh. That's odd.

A blogger I thought lived in Brooklyn is talking about power being out. But I swear there were no signs of storms other than a very pretty lightning show over the harbour, out past Staten Island.

lightning may have hit something? if it hits the right thing, you probably could lose power even with no storm over you, is my guess.

even though the storm did end up kinda going thru my town, i dont think anyone here lost power

Last Wednesday, we had some wicked storms, both in the city I live in and the one I work in. I was staying with my parents, so I got the first round. I don't see any hail damage on my car or either of my parents', but some of my coworkers claim that their vehicles have it.

Last Saturday night, my bf saw lightning hit really close to a radio tower nearby his house....he thinks it actually hit it, and I believe it, because it was out the rest of the night, totally stopped flashing.

There were severe thunderstorm warnings until midnight that night, but we went to the movies anyway. The worst was the rain and the skeleton-like lightning strikes.

Supposedly there was a tornado or straight wind in my hometown Tuesday. My crazy alcoholic great Aunt claims that their house was damaged, my dad is working there today and he is going to see if that's true. The news proved that there was indeed a really bad storm and some major damage, but she's so overly dramatic and exaggerates so bad, she claims it was an actual tornado and it hit down at the Burger King one block from her house. Burger King is still standing and operational.

I got strong-armed into having my hair professionally done once. The hair dresser probably hadn't been in Canada very long, because she was commenting on how odd the hail was, and wasn't it pretty and nice? I agree that it was impressive to watch but did let her know that it damaged stuff. (Walnut sized? Small walnuts, like you buy in the store, not what hangs on a tree).

We got hit with some very ugly storms Tuesday evening. It came just in time for me to get off work. My fiance has to pick me up since we only have one vehicle between us and I had to run through the downpour to get to the car. And it didn't help that the passenger side window doesn't close all the way so I had a wet drive home. The storm ended up stopping for a bit and picking up again several hours later. It looks like we're going to get some more today actually.

Thank goodness I'm not in Milwaukee right now. They've gotten about 7 inches of rain today from what I've heard, along with tornadoes.

I'm listening to streaming radio and they're talking about a house-gobbling-sized sinkhole that opened up on one of the streets.

Seriously?? I didn't know anything other than earthquakes could cause sinkholes. Wow. I'm going to do a search on that story; I just have to see a picture now that I know about it. It was cold and rainy here all. day. long., just like a California winter. We got the 1-inch hail and 40-mile winds yesterday.
