No, not THAT Doctor...the medical kind.

The other night I couldn't sleep because it felt like my heart was beating out of my chest (I also had a killer headache). This happens sometimes, but it usually goes away pretty quickly. Well...it still feels like my heart is just pounding away. Fiance finally told me that if I didn't go to the doctor he wouldn't play WoW with me this weekend. *sigh* Here goes. Hopefully he'll run some tests and try to figure out what's wrong instead of giving me another lecture on diet and exercise. (Look, if there was a company that delivered healthy, tasty dinners at the price and convenience of pizza, then I wouldn't be calling Dominos once a week.)

I had something similar happen about 2 years ago. just felt like my heart was racing 19 to the dozen Mine were sometime accompanied by a chocking sensation and feeling like I couldng breath. Turned out I was having panic/anxiety attacks.

It does sound like an anxiety attack. Were you nauseous at all? Hopefully thats all it was

Totally forgot that I posted this.

Well, the doc thought it was probably anxiety, but they did an EKG and chest x-ray just to be sure there wasn't something serious wrong with my heart. Then they took blood and pee samples to check my thyroid levels and to run a pregnancy test (there's very, VERY little chance I'm pregnant, I think it's just SOP with sexually active girls). Unless something's terribly wrong, I probably won't get those results back until my follow-up on Friday.

Soooo, my heart is okay, although I have a high resting heart rate. They checked the vitals on all of my visits, and it's almost always over 100. So, for the time being, I can only have very small doses of caffeine and I really need to start exercising and eating better (blahhh). But, school starts on Thursday. Hopefully I'll be taking exam prep hours this semester (if I can get this professor to be my chair, that meeting's Tuesday). That means that I'll be taking my exams in late spring. Since my fiance can't find a job up here, I'll probably be leaving town then to move in with him...which just tears me up. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait until we're in the same state. But leaving this town and my friends makes me sad. Speaking of the fiance....I haven't seen him since July 25th and won't see him again until September 3rd. So..there are some things to be anxious about. Of course, worrying about having a major heart problem was making it worse on Thursday/Friday....I felt a lot better after the doctor told me my EKG was fine. And I feel pretty good now. All of my girls are back in town, and that makes everything SO much better.

It's why I hate doctors with a fucking passion.

They charge you to see them. They charge you to do tests.

Then they tell you they can't do shit and send you to another doctor.

Ad infinite til damn near a year later, and your still not a single fucking inch closer to being healed, and now you have no medical, no money, no medicene to deal with pain, and doctors did nothing to help you.

I will never have medical again. It's bullshit to pay that amount, to have no doctor do a damn thing to help you.

I actually really liked this doc. He didn't send me home until he knew there was nothing seriously wrong, and he went easy on the food/exercise thing. Definitely one of the better docs I've had at the student clinic.

Quick update - all the blood work came back normal, and my heart rate was down to 88. Yay! He still wants to do another followup in a couple of months, see how things are doing, check my weight, etc. (He told me 10 pounds by Thanksgiving would be a good goal.)

A friend who is also plus-sized is gonna be my gym buddy. I'll feel better with somebody else.

I know i'm super dumb and obnoxious, but a lot of women dont know about proper exercise for women (hint, its the same as men). If youre up/willing I can help with that too.

I do not look like a man from lifting weights, i can provide photo evidence of such. I'm still a fatty, but nothing manly is going on right here.

edit: dumb implies i know nothing. I'm dumb about helping people. I know a great deal of shit on exercise and nutrition.

Can ya give me some? One that requires minimal movement of pelvis action?

Tumor growing and eating it away. Doctors don't want to remove it yet.

As such, it hurts to walk, stand, move really.

Bench? Honestly, if its THAT medical/severe you need to rely on your doctors for advice.

I'm sure I'll incorporate weight training at some point, but right now I really want to focus on cardio to get my heart in shape. I mean, yes, I want to lose weight. But my cardiovascular system's a bit higher on the priority list.

I started to do that a couple weeks ago (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). I have the podcasts by Robert Ullrey on my iPod (he made the recordings for himself, timed out and set to music, with him telling you when to start each interval, and then put them up on his website, and iTunes.) There are others on iTunes as well.

I will have to repeat week one because I couldn't do all the running. Got derailed this past week because of weather and car problems.

                            But today, I clean.
