I started my undergrad in 2001, at the other ASU that isn't Arizona State. (Go Red Wolves!)
I have no idea who the Red Wolves are, but I do know that there are lots of "other" ASU's besides the real ASU:

    Appalachian State.
    Arkansas State.
    Angelo State.
    Augusta State.
    Alabama State.
    Albany State.
    Alcorn State.
Etc., etc. You get the point.

Lots of ASU's. I root for them all in spirit, of course. Unless they're playing the Devils, that is!

My apologies for what is about to happen to your Sun Devils, say, September 18.
Wow, I've never had anyone apologize to me for my school laying down a whooping on a Big 10 school. Or is that Big 12? No, I know what conference Wisconsin is in, I just don't know what they should be called these days. After all, you have 10 teams in the Big 12 and 12 teams in the Big 10. What's up with that? I AM hoping that the PAC10 changes its name to the PAC12 so we don't look as freakin' ridiculous as those two conferences......

I majored in Geography, minored in Art

1: How close is my school?
I take the train, and it takes about.... an 45 minutes or so.

2: When did I start, and how close am I done?
...Gah. I'm always bad with dates. But I've done two terms, on my third term, and I have like... three more terms afterwards I belive.

3: What am I getting? Associate of Applied Science Degree. I know, I know, a crap degree for idiots. But it's really all I can do at this point in my life.

        4: Books:
I don't want to say. Expensive. But I love reading them causually. How wierd am I to like reading techinical stuff after a lifetime of reading fantasy.

        5: Excited to go back?
I'm still going now. Yes I am glad. I like my school. I'm keeping a 4.0 gpa so far. I just hope I can keep at it.

I know that alot don't think of community as a real school, or give real degrees, but, I'm doing well. For the first time in my life ever, I'm doing very very well in school. (which should be a clue to me that something's wrong) but I'm still learning, which is important. I'd likely attend a real collage in town once I get my degree here and get some field experence in my life.

          1) how close is your school to where you live?
About 45 minutes from my parents house. Far enough that I prefer living on campus, but close enough that I can run home if needed.

          2) When did you start, and how close are you to graduating/getting any certificate or end-goal?
Started Fall of 2007, changed majors twice and I hope to graduate Spring of 2012.

          3) What are you getting your end-goal piece of paper in?
Major is English with concentration in High School teaching; minor in Art

          4) ...Books. How much did you spend this time? Any outliers or honorable mentions?
So far $170 and I still need to get two more.

          5) Excited to go back, or dreading it? Other?
Happy to be back, kinda. I'm just at the point where I want to graduate and get all of it over with.

Ah, I thought we had the conversation before - I went to Arkansas State. Honestly, don't waste your breath rooting for them, the athletic program is a huge joke. I can't imagine them ever playing Arizona State. (However, I think it's a better school for an education than U of Arkansas. Cheaper, too.)

You probably saw a production of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe. Goethe's Faust (the one I referred to) is broken up in two parts. Only the first part is ever staged. The second part is mostly philosophy, because that's how Goethe rolls. He "dies" in the second part. (If memory serves, he's redeemed in Goethe's version, but not in Marlowe's.)
Eh. Everything's mixed up with anything with Faust in the name! XD Yeah, you're right, it was by Marlowe, and I had a bit of a brainfart. Yeah, in the English version, he totally gets torn apart. ... literally.

So far as I know, the Big Ten will still be the Big Ten. They may just tweak the logo to include a 12 in there someplace, like the do now with the number 11.

The Big 12 shall henceforth be known as Oklahoma and Texas and the Eight Dwarves.

                  1) how close is your school to where you live?
25 minutes from the far side of campus. My office (grad student) is on the far side of campus. Fortunately, the room where my course will be is on the near side, because said course is running until 21:50 if I'm lucky, all the way to 22:00 if I'm not. My parents live in a city an hour and a half away (train, not foot). However, they don't count, because once you're married, they're not home .

                  2) When did you start, and how close are you to graduating/getting any certificate or end-goal?

I started at this university in 2004, but I started this degree in 2009. In theory I should be done in April, 2011, but I don't expect to finish before August.

                  3) What are you getting your end-goal piece of paper in?
MASc in Mechanical engineering. I'm technically enrolled in thermal engineering, but I'd say that building sciences might be a better description (we just don't officially have a building sciences group). What I'm doing is programming

                  4) ...Books. How much did you spend this time? Any outliers or honorable mentions?
I'm honestly not going to bother looking it up until the term starts. Most of my books are reasonable - $150 or less. This one I'll probably have to buy though, because no one in my research group has taken the course I'm taking this term.

                  5) Excited to go back, or dreading it? Other?

I'm only taking a one-week break this time around, last term's when I took the month-long break. Fall term sucks though. It wasn't as bad in undergrad, because I was only once on campus for two terms back-to-back, so I never had to go from Spring term (best term ever, especially since there's such a long official break at the end and work never starts until the official start-of-term) straight into Fall term.

Hey, you never know. After all, every year 2 of our 3 non-conference opponents are lame patsies designed as tune-ups.

Utterly fucking stupid that they are still going to call themselves the Big Ten with 12 schools while the Big XII sticks to their name with 10 schools. I hope hope hope that the PAC10 changes their name to reflect reality, unlike these two ridiculous conferences living imaginary existences.

                        1) how close is your school to where you live?
I now live ON campus actually. But before that, about a mile or so.
                        2) When did you start, and how close are you to graduating/getting any certificate or end-goal? I started in 2006...am hopefully going to graduate next May!
                        3) What are you getting your end-goal piece of paper in? Psychology.
                        4) ...Books. How much did you spend this time? Any outliers or honorable mentions? Not too much this time. Around $200 or so. Amazingly awesomely cheap.

Kind of both. I officially start classes tomorrow, and it's kind of nerve-wracking yet cool all at the same time.

                          1) how close is your school to where you live?

                          5 minutes... it's also where I work!

                          2) When did you start, and how close are you to graduating/getting any certificate or end-goal?

I started in June. End in two years from somewhere around March, or whenever I start taking classes for the actual Masters.

                          3) What are you getting your end-goal piece of paper in?

                          Masters in Business Administration.

                          4) ...Books. How much did you spend this time? Any outliers or honorable mentions?

So far, $80 for a online book/course, $160 for my accounting book.

                          5) Excited to go back, or dreading it? Other?
Both! I love being in class, but I'm literally just getting my MBA so, A: I can say I have it, B: I can have some tips on running my side business. This is my second attempt at my MBA. The first time, I nearly had a panic attack after looking at the first book. But this time may be different. I've taken my prereqs, so that's gotten me back in the groove of things.

                          1) how close is your school to where you live?

Well, lived on campus, but parents were an hour and a half away. GREAT distance! Could come home when I wanted/needed to, but not expected to come home every weekend.

                          2) When did you start, and how close are you to graduating/getting any certificate or end-goal?

Started in '00, ended in '04 :: feels old ::

                          3) What are you getting your end-goal piece of paper in?

BA in Management Information Systems, with a minor in Classics.

                          4) ...Books. How much did you spend this time? Any outliers or honorable mentions?

I think I spent about $300 for a math book.

                          5) Excited to go back, or dreading it? Other?

I was always excited to go back. Every year only got better, because I got more liberal arts classes out of the way, and got to take more classes for my major. Then I took an anthropology class, and wished I could stay longer.

Once again, I'd mention where I went to school, but since I work in the same town, not wise!
