  • The Antics of my Cat

Gizmo had surgery 6 days ago to fix a hernia and desexed at the same time, she gets the stitches out next Monday, she's doing really well.

She had a major personality change since the surgery, she's become my little shadow, she follows me everywhere, hates to be out of her sight, she even tries to stop me going out, when i get the kids in the car to go to school she''s either jump in the car, jump on the car or stand behind the car to stop me leaving.

She is also alot more vocal now and literly does not shut up I'm having trouble typing this cause she's all over me.

Some cute things she does now is nibble on my chin or cheek and purring madly

Has anyone elses cat do this after being speyed or is it just her?

Its a traumatic event. Like people, she wants to be loved on and cared for after something like that. No worries, she'll go back to ignoring you in no time

The funny thing is she doesn't do it with anyone else except myself and me eldest daughter (who's 9 today )

      She completely ignores my husband

Cats pick their people. Our youngest fluffball has latched onto me very securely, and very rarely interacting with my mom. The rest of our cats won't even give me the time of day, and actively avoid me when I try to pet them.
Something kind of sad about the way that things have come to be.

My girlcat (who is technically mine; the boy is my mother's) loooooves my father. My father who "hates cats"...

Mostly she doesn't sit with anyone (she likes the rocking chair in the living room and my dad's bed if she's feeling antisocial), but she goes to bed with him at night and stays until my mother comes and kicks her out. When I'm over there sitting at the computer in the kitchen, though, she likes to come up to my side and she'll stretch her foot up and tap me on the shoulder. When I acknowledge her and pat her head she gets down and walks away.

Might be a girlcat thing? Both of ours cling like velcro, but they were a couple years old when we got them and spayed by the previous owner. Not sure if it was directly from the shelter or later on, but it was long healed by the time we got them, normal belly fur and such.

I don't know if our older cat's personality changed after being spayed. The shelter spayed her before we took her home. She was very lovable and snuggly now that I think about it.My brother's male cats on the other hand... I dropped the cats off for their neutering because the brother was at work. When they came home, I got the nastiest looks one can get from a cat. Like they wanted to rip my face off.
