I have a sizable collection of board games. One petty annoyance is when an expansion comes in a really nice box or something...that's entirely redundant because the expansion fits into the base game container with no issues. Sure, I just reuse the box somewhere, or hack the art off and stick it in with the main game, but still. Petty.
I have the opposite problem. A couple of expansions came with really nice boxes that also hold the original game, leaving me with the really nice original game box. You just can't win.

    • It often annoys me that my shoes - no matter how new, old, clean, or dirty the soles are - have a tendency to squeak when I walk on hard surfaces. Like store tile floors. I do not at all object to the squeaking being a completely passive-aggressive means of imparting "stop standing in the middle of the aisle and get the heck out of the way".

        • Man, I have a strong tendency to assume everything is about me, that someone is annoyed at me and something they said within earshot is a dig. In all reality, I missed the one word or phrase that could change the meaning entirely. It's especially stupid because said person hasn't acted at all like they're angry with me for months and months. I think this is what's called a "trauma response" and I've been suddenly seeing a whole lot of my emotional, internal thought processes resemble that. It's daunting.

          • I got algorithm'ed back to the original teaser for Star Trek 2009 the other night. The 45-second one where it's just Industrial Stuff Happening, Generic Dramatic Music, Kennedy's moonshot speech...and then the camera pans up and holy crud it's the saucer section, Nimoy's single line of the intro, and a faint hint of the theme song chimes. Boy did that hit different in 2008/2009. Aaand then the Abramsverse movies turned out...like they did.

            • Went to see Horizon yesterday, if nothing else 'cause we sure don't get a lot of westerns these days. I was entertained for three hours, but...I don't think I like it very much. Even discounting that it says "part 1" in the title, that sure was a part 1. Two main plotlines, which have yet to cross, and one of which you get dropped into with no context; I normally love in media res stuff, but the other side of the coin is finding out the backstory stuff and that sure as hell hasn't happened yet. Four-five main groups of POV characters that it jumps between so I barely even know any names let alone anything about them (see previous about backstory). Absolutely nothing gets resolved, though clearly everything's going to crash together in part 2 or 3 or....whatever, according to the six-minute flash forward montage at the end. I'm just dangerously close to the seven words of doom, y'know - I don't really care about these characters. It's like Costner wanted to make three different movies and jammed them all into one.

Definitely pretty scenery though, good costumes, and I liked the music!

                • Got to watching a playthrought of Submachine Legacy on the youtubes. It's a remake/melding of a series of point-and-click adventure type Flash games that I remember very well from the days of internet yore, and loved the series back in the day. Man, Adobe killed so much internet content when they terminated Flash.
