We have this big cardboard box that my new office chair came in sitting in the living room, 'cuz the cats love to play in it. It's huge -- big enough for my husband or I to sit in if we crouch down. It's sitting on its side so that the flap that is open, opens out like a door would. So it's like a little (or not so little) hideout for the cats. Our kitten especially loves to hide in it when he knows he's been naughty, or to hide and wait for either my husband or I, or one of the other cats, to walk past so he can pounce on us.
Well, apparently kitten decided he needed to redecorate his little hideout. He went into our bedroom and found a garbage bag that had a couple of spare towels in it that we never bothered to unpack after we moved. He dragged said bag with towels in it into his box, wadded it all up just right, and laid down on it like it was his new bed.
Then he sulked when I took the bag AND the towels away from him.

I have a similar situation at home. Sally just *loves* to sleep on clothes. I've actually seen her pull things out of my dresser, drag them under the bedroom chest, and then build a little nest. She'll take anything, but old, soft sweat shirts are her favorites
