Hey Pederson, how is Tuxy doing? Or whatever you call him? Oh, and it IS a boy?
Either way, super cute and fuzzy and makes me smile.

That pic of you and 'Hey You' is adorable! This thread has warmed the cockles of my heart.

Since he's so young he's probably missing his mama and siblings. Hopefully he will settle down soon so you can sleep at night.

Last fall 2 kittens appeared at my front door on the first really cold night of the year. I took them in and at first all they did was cry. I didn't think I'd be sleeping either. But after getting some food in their bellies and some kitten antics (ie running around like lunatics), they curled up with each other and slept like babies. I'm sure it helped that they were together.

Being the cat person that I am, I was immediately smitten and wanted to keep them but knew that vet costs and spay/neuter costs were too much for me to be able to handle. I also have another cat who has special needs. He's me 8 year old tabby, Gary.

Within a few days I was able to find a home for the kittens with a woman and her daughter who gladly took both of them. Even though they'd only been here less than 4 days, I missed them terribly once they were gone. It had been so long since I had a kitten and I'd forgotten just how much fun they are...and how cute!

Very very true... there's just something about kittens that make you fall in love with them.

He's doing pretty well. Especially since we got him the alarm clock. It ticks, and he sleeps. Of course, it wasn't past midnight yet. I'll tell you tomorrow if it keeps on working.

And yes, he is a boy. The only issue so far has been one spat of diarrhea. It's amazing how quickly you can go from "yay! poo!" to "shit. poo."

Very likely. I think he's settling in a bit. I know I'm liking it. And dreading tomorrow. What if I find out he already has a home he's supposed to be in? I hope not.

If you desire him to be solely a housecat, do not let him near the door. Our cat, despite several adventures with him running back to the house with his tail and belly dragging the ground, still has that insatiable curiousity of the outside. >_>
My cats are indoor only but the boy has gotten out a few times. The first couple times he stopped short, like "now what?" and my dad caught him easily. Once he stayed out overnight because it got too dark to look for him anymore; they left the garage open a few inches in case he wanted to come back in (he likes to hang out in there anyway). Around 5am my dad got up and he was on the porch with a little friend, but they ran off when he opened the door. Around 9 he opened the garage door and he ran in and bolted straight for the food. He stayed away from all outside doors for a while after that. His sister, on the other hand, wouldn't go outside for all the treats in the world. She doesn't even like going in the screen house and will crouch by the door waiting for her chance to run back inside.

I heard that "non cat" people give messages to cats that they see as friendly...something about no eye contact and aloofness.
They see the person who is not trying to get their attention as the non-threatening one. My dad "hates" cats (the girl claimed him as her person and he loves it) but he was always the one my aunt's cat wanted to sit with.

It's hard to say. On the one hand, he seems incredibly needy. To the point that, if I'm not actively petting him, he's mewing at me nearly constantly.
He just misses his mom and litter.

Whenever I pick him up, he clutches me like he's worried about being dropped, and doesn't even let go when he can feel that he's back on solid ground.
He's not used to being up so high. He'll get used to it and then you won't be able to stop him climbing. (Have a pic somewhere of my girl climbing up my brother's leg at 7 weeks.)

Dont worry about him spitting at the dogs. He's just trying to establish his place in the house. Did he poof up when he spit :3 oh god its so cute when they poof
When we brought the cats home at 7 weeks, Pablo was still living with us (he went back to Ex about a week or so later ). We kept the cats in the spare room for the first several days (then let them out with gradually decreasing levels of supervision in the rest of the house). So we brought Pablo in after a day or two to see how they would react to each other. Pablo didn't much care (which I didn't expect him to; he ignored most animals unless they got too close to him), but the cats went all puffer fish on him. The girl went under the corner of the bed and hissed at him. But she was so tiny you could barely hear her. Cutest thing ever.

After 4 months they start trying to open doors.
If you have the kind with handles not knobs they will succeed.
The doors at my parents' house are like that. I was getting ready for work once and when I turned off the hair dryer I looked up and there's the girl sitting there looking like "how did I get in here?" So I kicked them both out and watched as they opened the door again. The boy is longer so he worked the handle but I think she did some pushing from the bottom. They didn't do it again after that. I think they just wanted to show me that they could.

Get a cool wet cloth and gently wipe his butt until he poops. Hes used to having his mom lick his butt to get him to poop so he might not know how to go on his own yet.
My brother had to do that with the kitten he found when I was in high school. He was probably a few weeks old. We kept him for a week or so and he found someone at work to adopt him (he's allergic to cats so we couldn't keep him).

Cat is in fridge, curled up on the pork chops that were marinating for dinner.
My boy got into the freezer when he was a few months old. Luckily it was only a few minutes. My mom was cleaning up from dinner and he must have hopped in there. They went to walk their friends out and I noticed he was missing, then heard a thump coming from the kitchen. Went to investigate and realized it was coming from the freezer. Opened it and he came tumbling out of the third shelf from the bottom.

This is what you have failed to realise. You do not choose the kitten, the kitten has chosen you.

Just get over it and give him a name.

Well, before any other bits, I have to share this little bit of news: Seems our next door neighbors know him quite well. They knew exactly who he belonged to.

As it turns out, the people who are the actual owners? That would be me and the wife. Seems he's one of the (former) strays who lived under their storage shed.

Now he just has to tell us his name

He's already working on climbing. As long as everything looks solid nearby, he's willing to climb. For instance, if I'm sitting on the couch, he'll climb me (or my wife) easily.

After that little bit of spit the first night, things have settled dramatically. Our youngest dog won't leave him alone, and insists on having her nose no more than 6 inches from him. The kitten has used her nose as a toy a few times. I think the claws have been out a bit (not totally), but the reaction from her so far has been simply to keep moving her nose so it's harder to play with.

Our older dog, so far, has simply been ignoring the cat, to the point that we can put the cat between its paws (while it's laying down), and it simply looks down as if to say "What's this?" before the kitten wanders off.
