It's all made and it's not bad, next time I may use a little less canned pumpkin but other than that it's great.

It's like a frozen pumpkin pie (without the crust).

I also made some yellow cakes to go along with it since this isn't really a flavor I can mix with others (that I like - well, maybe cookie dough?)

If you have a stand mixer, check with the mfg - many have add-ons for ice cream making (I know my Kitchen Aid does). It'll usually require a lot of ice, too.

        You COULD try this:

Find a bowl for your mixer that is insulated (ceramic) and a smaller bowl that is metal.

Put some ice in the bottom of the insulated bowl and put the metal bowl in it. Then surround the metal bowl with ice (don't put it into the metal bowl). Then, put your ice cream mix in the metal bowl and let the blender slowly blend it (wisk maybe?) for about 30 minutes - keeping the ice in the ceramic bowl full.

Not sure how well that'll work, though.

I don't know if it works in hot climates, but there's always the two-can method where you put your ingredients in a container, and then stick that inside a large can packed with salt and ice, then roll that back and forth until the ice cream freezes. (The ice freezes it, the salt lowers the temperature, the rolling keeps it from getting solid). Unfortunately you might need to find a friend with a couple of little people that you can borrow, because really you want someone with a lot of energy who will find being told to kick this can back and forth to be the most fun ever, because they get to play with their food.

            Salt the ice!
... and it will work a lot better ...

I haven't made ice cream of any kind...but there is place near me that now has pumpkin gelato which was pretty good.

I just had the experience of cooking down a pumpking and pureeing it yesterday for soup which turned out pretty yummy. What a lot of work....

I've seen a ball made for that purpose. Don't remember what catalog had it, maybe Red Envelope. The best pumpkin ice cream I've had was at Thrifty Drug, which was bought out by Rite Aid. They still have the ice cream, which is made by Carnation, I think.
