  • Am I glad my Mom works for a doctors office!

Or, How Techie is trying NOT to go off her meds.

So, after a comedy of errors of sorts, I finally got the email that my Lexapro shipped yesterday. Unfortunately, yesterday also marked the day that I took the last Lexapro in my bottle.

Fortunately, my Mom, being well aware of my money problems and my Grumble Grumble habit of procrastination, made sure I had a few weeks of sample packets in my cabinet. It won't last long, as the sample packet tablets are half my dose, but my meds should be here... :: counts :: by the end of the week.

Now, I can only hope that, when she gets back from vacation, Mom will be able to refill my emergency stash.

Its good you have that extra stash hidden. I wish I could have my meds shipped to me, but it makes me entirely too nervous that what you're dealing with will happen to me. No one has samples of my pills, either :\

Well, I would have been okay. They SHOULD have been here last week. BUT... something happened with my bank account, and some money disappeared. So I went from having just barely enough money to cover the pills to.. well, not enough. Still trying to figure out what happened.

Of course, when I did my bills and balanced my checkbook post paycheck, I suddenly had MORE money than I expected.., so.. yeah.

In short, they tried to charge my card last week, failed, and had to wait until yesterday.

I have to have my Lexapro shipped to me. I can't afford it from the pharmacy. Well, I can barely afford it now, but going mail order means I get 3 months for the cost of 2. Lexapro is freaking expensive.

I really do hope Mom can refill me. She said samples are getting harder to come by.

I do the 3 months for 2 shipping thing for some of my meds too....and they tend to ship fast here. It's a local mail order pharmacy.

I'll link this to Amina for more info, as my Google-fu is failing me, but I'm wondering if the emergency stash is past it's expiration date..

I got myself quite worked up last night, which usually doesn't happen when I'm on my meds. I still feel pretty crappy today. Cross your fingers I'll make it all day.

              :: closes PM ::

Basically, how long is Lexapro (in the bubble packaging/sample pack) usually good for? There SHOULD be an expiration date on the sample pack, right?

You know..im honestly not sure. However, medications maintain their properties even after expiration. If its all you have, it'd be better to take it instead of nothing. Like using cake mix a year after its expired. Nothing really spoils. (and its still yummy cake!)

BUT..that being said.. Let me grab my pharm book and Ill be right back.

So, yeah just to confirm what i said.

The pill is still good. The manufacturers are basically guessing when they feel the peak effectiveness has passed, and recommend an exp date. The pill is still effective, but it may not be as potent. As long as the pills arent damaged, discolored, wet etc...id stick to them and cross your fingers that the others come soon. Found this in "Mosbys Pharmacology of Nursing"...page 84..

                    lol..disclaimer.

Thanks. I just checked the tracking site, and SHOULD have them tomorrow, which is good, because I had them shipped to work. So, having them arrive on Saturday isn't so good.

The half life of Lexapro of 27-32 hours which means even without taking it, you still have some in your system. You may feel a little off, but still not completely devoid of your meds.

I'd call my psychologist (med doctor), but he's only in the office I go to on Mondays and Wednesdays. So, he wouldn't even get my message until Monday, by which point I should have gotten my meds, and it (hopefully) will be a moot point.

                          Meh.
