You know one of the problems I have with entertainment community awards? They always seem to go to stuff with <add echo effect here> Deep Inner Meaning <trailing off echos>
What is wrong with good absurd fun? does everything have to have some layer of deep inner meaning to be important? Isn't amusement also important? I always thought that entertainment was to like *entertain* people.
EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.
There's nothing wrong with light entertainment, but I've always felt that theatre's ultimate goal should be to enlighten as well as entertain. To put it in the words of Meryl Streep, "I go to film to be entertained; I go to the theatre to be challenged."
