I don't see a report of an SC in here. Got me curious.

Well, my next-door neighbour's mother drives a Prius, though given her attitude, I call them a 'pious'. While not a sucky customer, she absolutely hates me with a passion now.

Hey, she was 'piously' telling me that she was saving the planet for her new granddaughter. All I did was point out that the batteries in her car were far more damaging to the environment than any 4x4 on the road.

          Ah well...

I always think of priapism whenever I hear Prius.

I can remember the first time I saw one, I 'tapped' (gently) on the drivers window. He opens it. I go 'Can you please tap the horn next time'. He looks at me confused, then the moment of 'Oh, heheh'. We both had a chuckle. He was reversing out of an alley in the city. He just bought it and was so used to petrol cars that he forgot it couldn't be heard. I have driven one, I'd drive one, but wouldn't buy one....now....that hybrid camry on the other hand....

My parents have a Prius, and I drive it on occasion. I also walk and take public transit whenever possible, and I don't go around flaunting it. I'm more interested in the next-gen hybrids, that can go up 40-60 km on electricity, before it starts burning gasoline.

Smart money says she doesn't give a damn about preserving the environment, she just wants a trendy way of feeling superior.

It seems that's why many people buy those cars. It's *trendy* to be seen in one. Never mind that making a new car uses up a crapload of energy...

I actually looked at them when I bought my Corolla. At the time, I couldn't see paying much more (at the time, many local dealers wanted nearly 25 grand for a Prius) for a Corolla-sized car, that didn't get much better mileage than the Corolla, and (from what I've heard) many smaller shops won't touch because of the complex powertrain.

But, the real hatred out there...seems to be directed at Smart car owners. And yes, I've actually done the research. These things get poor mileage for their size--25/30 miles per gallon really isn't much to sneer about. There are many bigger cars (the Corolla, for one), that easily get in the 40/45 range...and are not only bigger, but will blow the doors off a Smart car at the lights. Plus, you can carry your groceries home in one, and if you get hit, you're not dead

According to Top Gear, the damage done to the environment to make one Prius is greater than that done to the environment by someone driving a "gas-guzzling" SUV.

                        Hey now...lol

Well I gotta say I loooove my Prius. I had an Altima for nine years and when it was time to get a new car I decided on my Prius. Mileage is great, it's nice and quiet and it mooooves...lol

                        I loooove my car!!!

                        Oh and no offense taken.
If you don't like my attitude, talk to the manager!!! Oh, wait, that would be me!!

Yes, I'm the manager. I'm also known as "the brick wall".

Considering Toyota's safety problems as of late, wouldn't "Prayforus" be a more apt name?

Was it top gear that pace matched a Prius and BMW M5, and the M5 got better gas milage. Not what you drive but how you drive.

Yup! Jeremy Clarkson did a piece on that. He's ranted about the Prius several times. He really hates them. Overall, my family mostly drives Toyotas and even Jezza likes them (well, at least the Hilux), but the Prius is just...well I HATE the dash for one thing. We're saving up for a pick-up truck (when my first ever car, a 10 yo Saturn LS dies...amazingly, it's still running great) and will most likely get a Tacoma (since the Hilux isn't available in the US, thanks EPA). We'll then be a 2 Toyota household (hubby drives a Camry)
