  • State number 8 here I come!

That's right, folks. For those who've been paying attention, since 2004 I've lived in seven (7) different states. Georgia (multiple times), Missouri, Kansas, South Carolina, Kentucky (twice), Alabama, and Florida. In 11 days, I will be boarding the bus for state number eight, Texas. I'll be staying there just until I go into basic training, and will be working with a couple of soldier friends to prepare.

I only have two more shifts at the gas station, and then Monday morning I'll be going in to tell my current boss exactly what I think of him and (gracefully) where he can shove the 17 hour schedule he has written down for me for next week. Then I'll go back Thursday to get my final pay check. Mind you, even if he'd given me 40 hours for the coming week, I'd still quit, as I wouldn't be able to get my last check and don't think I could depend on boss man to send it to me.

So alrighty Texas, here I come! Note that I will be breaking another record for myself, as this will be the furthest West, and possibly the furthest South I've ever lived. I will be taking a 24.5 hour bus ride from Conyers, GA to Killeen, TX. Wish me luck!

Oh, Killeen! You're going to be about 2.5 hour drive from me. So close, and so far (for me, who has no vehicle...) You tease!

But, honestly, good luck in everything, hun!! Best of luck in Basic!!

I'll find a way to come see you! I have another friend who's about 4.5 hours from Killeen and my older brother is about 5.5 hours from there in Del Rio, so I have a feeling I'll be attempting to see everyone LOL

You just want me for my cooking.

but seriously, that would be awesome!! I always like to find ways to meet CSers face to face. Just haven't managed much of it, is all. Limited time, money, and resources and whathaveyou.

I know the feeling well. I just wish I had a car! Since mine died (2nd one this year damnit!) I'll be taking the good ol' greyhound. I'll PM you my itinerary and if any of my layovers are close, maybe we could meet there

that'd be awesome. I can get to greyhound very easily via MetroRail in Houston. And Houston IS a popular layover area, in theory.

Heh, I live near Shreveport, so I'm about 4 hours away from there as well!

Well, only two more days til I leave for Texas. Most of my packing's done. I'm once again working to consolidate my life into two suitcases and a backpack. I've lost a lot of weight, so I'm hoisting some clothes off on my roommate's teenage daughters who wear the same size I did when I moved here. Luckily, they're not much younger than me (20 and almost 16), so we wear kind of the same style clothes. The 20 y/o also wears the same size shoe as me, so I was able to get rid of a few pairs of shoes that I don't need.

More good news on me moving to Texas, though. My older brother is currently stationed in Del Rio, and I got a phone call from him today inviting me to the family Thanksgiving. My little brother will be driving down with his girlfriend from Oklahoma, and will be picking me up in Temple on his way down. For the first time in over 10 years, my mom, both brothers, and myself will all be in the same room together. I'm *very* excited about that! Plus, I get to meet my sister-in-law for the first time (her and my older brother have been married for nine years), my niece (who was born in 2006), and my little brother's girlfriend. This is going to be a really good Thanksgiving
