Now I've heard everything....having to deal with angry wild turkeys in the road. I'm afraid I would show them who's boss and pick the one going after me as dinner
Anyone here want to place some bets on the outcome of that?

I think they already know who's boss.

    A bear running around downtown.

    That is all.

There was a pair of turkeys on my college campus - Tom and Jenny. Jenny was hit by a car the year before I started there, but Tom could usually be found either down by the lake or up in "his" tree in front of the library. You did not want to mess with him. (He died my senior year; beaten with sticks and a police baton(?!) by a bunch of middle school kids from town .)

All the wild turkeys around by me live in the country.

Then again, so did all the wild deer and they're overrunning the city, so the turkeys can't be too far behind.

I'm imagining a turkey gang with leather jackets.

I've never seen a flock(?) of wild turkeys like that before, but it always amuses me to see stray dogs of different breeds roaming neighborhoods together.

I love wild turkeys....see 'em often, find it amusing every time...esp the time I saw a lone tom strolling around a rather non-rural town.

On Mt Hale this past week, there was a rather insistent bird who wanted my apple cake....I hate feeding wild critters, but throwing a piece at it stopped it flying at me. (not sure what bird it was... The grey jays were far more polite)

Large birds like that can mess you up. They don't play around. Do not underestimate the damage a pissed off goose-sized bird can do.

I encountered a pair of Canada Geese in the woods once, walking around with their kid (who was pretty tall and scary in his own right). I gave them the path and climbed through the brush to avoid them.

I thought I saw it all when it became a morning occurance to have to dodge them as soon as I got onto my street, because they are always in the middle of the road strutting their stuff.

It was a sight to see, that's all I can say. I am so glad no one was nearby, because a lot of people walk/jog and take their kids for walks around here, because there is a park nearby.

I pissed off a turkey to the point of him puffing up and spreading his wings at me, and that was because I wouldn't give him any of my candy bar. I'd hate to be the mailman if that truck had stalled out!

started a topic I Have Seen It All

    I Have Seen It All

Saturday morning, I saw our local crazy clan of tom turkeys wandering across the street to pick at bugs and make that annoying gobble noise.

The mail truck stopped by that particular complex, and when it went to take off again, one of the turkeys actually started chasing it, and continued after it!

    Crazy things happen here.
Working...
