I'm actually on target so far! But, in 20 minutes, it will be the 3rd here.

@RK: Yeah, it's 50k words in a month, but it's not particularly good writing. I looked back on my writing for today and it's...terrible. But the goal is to get the story written, and worry about editing and making it pretty later. Inner editors are not happy with being silenced right now... :P

I can fart out a thousand words in short sitting, but a thousand words I'm not embarassed to show anyone is a completely different story.

2,364 words today! My first official day since I worked a 12 hour on Monday, but the Nano sight is under maintenance, so I can't update it... but I've got a summary of my novel up there ^_^ and when I can I'll post my word count. Good job everyone! And remember, the 50,000 is just a goal, even if you just write 50 words at least you wrote something ^_^

I have an excerpt I wrote yesterday. Skipped ahead a bit and wrote a scene that shows my two MCs bonding, figured it was more interesting than my first chapter. It's on my Novel Info, as well as a back-cover blurb type synopsis.

The excerpt is...bad. I swear I write better than this. :P

I think the idea is to (a) just get yourself writing, and (b) that by aiming at quantity in the first instance you rush past the terrible internal critic telling you it isn't worth doing.

It seems like a good idea to me as I do suffer from the kind of thinking that means I spend several hours drafting 1 paragraph before deciding it wasn't any good anyway.

The problem with my writing isn't the quality it's the non-existence.

Now I am writing something I guess there's also a problem with the quality

But it does get you into the habit of writing, and it does get the ideas flowing. And at the end of it I hope to have some material I can actually work on more sensibly.

I'm not doing very well so far as my avatar attests. But that's 1000 words I wouldn't have otherwise done, and I'll be able to do much more on weekends 9and I had a horrible family argument yesterday that ate my writing time).

I am doing very well at catching up on my work though - to make procrastination less fun every time I get stuck I'm writing part of one of my backlog of cases from work.

It's really hard.

But if I'm going to finish for the first time ever since I've been participating, I'm going to have to stop caring about whether the story is good and just get it written.

That said, I didn't write a single word today. >_<
