  • Butts (Warning: Small Rant)

So I live on the first floor of an apartment building, we have the former manager's apartment so we have a full patio and such.

Well, two weeks ago we got some new neighbors on the third floor.

Today I come out and find a whole bunch of cigarette butts on our patio and pathway... Even better the fact that we smoke too, so now it looks like we've just been flicking our cigarettes out. (We know it was none of us, wasn't our brands.)

Fuckers, my one roommate wants to go up and just give them an ashtray, while my other one wants to just go up and knock and say, and I quote "Knock it the fuck off assholes."

I think I'm just going to call the manager, I just don't feel like starting a feud with these people since I have to live here for the next year.

    I hate people.

What the hell? Is it so hard to bring out an ashtray?

Yeah, I'd start with the manager first, too.

There's a guy who lives in the upstairs apartment on the side of my building facing the parking lot, and he smokes cigars on his balcony, and throws them onto the grass between the building and the parking lot. There is a doctor's office next door, and their parking lot is fenced off, and one day (weekend, of course, so no one there) on my way out I noticed a cigar, still smoldering, in the mulch under the tree in the corner of their fence. Luckily we had a torrential downpour shortly afterward.

Feel for you. I have butt buckets I religiously use. I have NEVER and will NEVER flick cigg butts into the parking lot/properties around here. I have been accused many, many times of doing it, because Old Witch finds them all around her apartment porch and by her car. First of all, they aren't my brand, second of all, I have watched all of the downstairs neighbors' friends pull up smoking, and toss it into the parking lot, Sheriff has taken up smoking (well, pretending to smoke) and some former tenants used to smoke like crazy with no ashtray outside and would throw them wherever, but it was supposedly me doing it.

Going through the manager is a good idea. I wouldn't want to take a chance on confronting them directly, you never know what they might do. Anyone who would throw their trash on a neighbor's patio would probably give you attitude if you said anything to them, and they may even take revenge if you dared to bring it up. Be glad they don't have dogs, they'd probably throw their turds on your patio. That's happened to some of our first-floor neighbors.

I yelled at my bf yesterday for throwing his butt in the grass... we were standing in the driveway, and he flicked it to the side... i was and asked him to please not do that - drop it in front you and stomp it out, or flick it out to the street, but please not in the grass with dead leaves slowly accumulating under the bush at the corner of the house!

he picked it up and put it in the ashtray on the porch.

I had minor issues with that when I first moved into this apartment - not sure if it was the neighbors next to me, or whomever they had over that night, but I'd always find cigarette butts next to MY door the next day.

the people two floors above us had all their butts stored in a can with some dirt, and it fell right by our porch one day, and didn't get cleaned up for a few days It finally did get cleaned up but of course we had a note tacked to OUR door saying "don't leave your cigarette butts outside" cause someone had complained. Hey man I am not the one at fault here!
