Ever had one of those days where nothing goes right, but something awesome happens anyways?
I had a one of those a few weeks ago.
Angel had won us a 16x20 portrait (with no sitting fee) at Sear's Photography Studios...
So we set up an appointment for first thing in the morning on a Friday. (With the 4 y/o's disorder, we're more likely to have a positive experience before lunch. Afterward, it's just too much for her.)
We get there on time... but no one's in the studio.
Odd...
We wait. And wait... and wait... and wait... An hour later the manager of the studio is called and says "WTF??? F*@#!! I'll be there in 15 minutes!"
At this point, we're already reaching the "Don't wanna'!" stage with the two little ones.
But we do the shoot.
With much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the session is done. But we don't have time to do anything else because we -have- to be home for lunch. (Roomie needed the vehicle for an emergency, and little ones -freak- if the schedule is broken.) So I quickly pick the photo that I want as the free 16x20, receive an extra coupon for another 16x20 and a 10x16 for the trouble... and we book it back to the house before the epic melt-down occurs.
Fast forward about 2 weeks... I get a call from the manager saying that our awesome wall pic is in!
YAY!
I'm there in 15 minutes to pic it up... and she looks for it... and looks... and looks... and looks... It's GONE!
Odd...
One emergency reorder (and 30 minutes) later and she tossed in a couple extra 10x16's of some other shots because this is the -second- time that her studio has screwed the pooch.
We agree to try this again (and get a new shoot for the 16x20 and 10x16 coupons from last time) and set up the shoot for another Friday morning.
Fast forward 2 weeks to the next shoot... and we're there, she's there, our pictures from the previous shoot are there, all is wonderful!... Except that she's suddenly slammed with 6 people wanting to pick their photos from previous shoots (apparently the other folks working under her are incompetent or something), another 3 that need to set up their appointments... and it take almost 45 minutes before we can get to the room for the shoot.
The kids are cranky. I'm having a laughing fit. (It's my life. It never gets easier. This is my "normal".) The manager is apologizing profusely (with me saying "It's ok. I'm not angry. Let's just get this done.") and everyone else in the waiting area is... well, waiting.
The shoot takes 10 minutes... because Nugget and Bubbie are, quite simply, done. They want to go home.
I pick the photos I want. She throws in a few extra shots. I grab the pics from the previous shoot... and she throws in a few of the extra sheets that the print lab always sends, for free.
So!
I present the only two shots that I could get scanned (16x20's don't scan well.)
(And, yes, my heathens have colored mohawks. Yes, they're girls. (except for the littlest one))
(In total, we received almost $400 worth of photography sessions and pics for free. AWESOME!)
