    Guesswhatguesswhatguesswhat?!

    My puppy was born yesterday!!!

My hubby and I have been planning for this for two years now. He wanted a big, friendly dog that would be happy to cuddle on demand, unlike our cats. I wanted big, NOT drooly dog that would be up for therapy training and would get along with out cats. After much research, we found the perfect breed, and a breeder that's only a couple hours away.

Leonbergers are a breed developed in Germany, bred to resemle lions. The basis for the breed was Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees, and Saint Bernards. They are huge, they don't drool (but they shed like crazy) they are smart, and friendly to both people and animals. www.heartnsoulleos.com

Perfect, right? We had a name all picked out for our boy, but OOPS! He's a she. Now I have to come up with a gurl name.... Leah? Maia? Hmmm.

    PUPPY!!!!!

I just saw some pictures of the leonberger. What a fluffmonster! I want one. XD As for the name, I'm going to blame my Dresden Files kick on the fact that the first thing I thought of was 'Mouse'.

Lol, "Mouse" is a great name! Our boy name was "Asher." I will definitely post pics asap. Probably the first I get will be Nov. 6th, but maybe the breeder will post some earlier than that. I'm really excited!

Ari/Ariel mean 'lion.' Since the pup's breed resembles one...

Hmm, not a bad suggestion! Another friend has suggested Aslan, but since its a girl, i vetoed that one.

It's such a great breed you are really going to enjoy your puppy! Also I think Mouse is a great name.

When you meet the puppy, see what name fits. Asher may work even though the pups a girl.
For me, I find it's generally best to meet the little one before naming them, and gender names don't always matter (we have a bitch dog called Freddie, and a girl ferret called Frankenstein)

Congratulations on the new edition to the family and I can't wait for pictures :-)
