  • White tattoo ink

I've been playing with the idea of getting a tat for a while now, and one of the designs I'm considering is this http://www.tattoojohnny.com/product/CCF-00579, only I'd want the artist to color it differently so that it looks like my own horse. Problem being, my horse is a pinto and therefore has lots of white. I'm naturally very pale anyways, so would it be better just to leave the white spots blank? I've heard the white ink doesn't really go on very well. And it seems all the designs I like are primarily white

White is a hard colour for most skin to take, and I know my artist recommend that I only use it sparingly. It's really best as a faint accent colour to make the dark colours look three-dimensional or stand out from the skin. So, if used correctly, you could get the idea of a white coat without actually having a whole load of white in your skin.

In my tattoos, I'd say only about 2% of the colour is white, but it makes a huge difference - they stand out a lot more for it.

      Hmm...

If I was getting a tat that had a lot of "white space" as it were, I'd seriously consider using UV reactive ink. It's not really white, but if done right, it could make for some interesting image when the lights are out.

My sister's only tattoo is a white heart on her ankle - at the time she was stripping at a club & with the lights out & the black light on - it glowed purple. She was about 21 when she got it & it faded to almost invisible about 6-8 years ago - she is 36 now.

Hmm, that's what I thought. I'd probably be better off getting something with less or no white, in that case. Thanks for the input I just want to take my time with it and not run out and get something that I'll look at right after and go "Aww, WTF did I do this for?"
