  • Happy new year (Samhain)

    Happy Samhain all!

It's the Pagan New Year (representing the final harvest of the year).

It is also a day to reflect on those we have lost over the past year and give our thoughts and prayers to them.

Happy Samhain! May your food be plentiful, your well always full and troubles far away in the new year.
Me to a friend: I know I'm crazy, you know I'm crazy, the zombies at the end of the world will know I'm crazy. Thus not eating my brain for fear of ingesting the crazy. It's my survival plan.

*pokes hand up* Question from an uninformed: is "Samhain" pronounced as it looks (because that's how I always think of it in my mind when I see the word, my brain wants to go "Sam-hain"), or is there a different (read: correct) pronunciation for it?

From what I remember being taught (and please people correct me if I am wrong) is that Samhain is pronouced as Sow-ein

I have a feeling different places pronounce it differently, but I have always said Sow-ein

"sow-in" (where "ow" rhymes with "cow") is how I was told to pronounce it.

Well... ironically a friend of a friend committed suicide last night around midnight.... I hope he finds peace in the hereafter and beyond.

Thanks to everybody for correcting me about the pronunciation of Samhein. Happy belated to those of you who celebrate it.

Treasure: I'm sorry about your friend. I hope he is at peace, wherever he is now.
