Thanks everyone, Dad seems to think he will get out today by noon. The doctors haven't said that and he hasn't had all his testing yet. So hopefully by tonight he will be home or sometime tomorrow.

I give my Mom so much credit she is handling this well, there are renovations being done, we have spent the past three days with no bathroom in the house, which we are still living in. Just the toilet when the construction workers leave for the day. I've been laid off and trying to figure out things. We found out we need a new roof over the kitchen and bathroom, my jeep needs $2000 worth of work done. Then Dad goes into the hospital. I have an amazing Mom, I don't know how she does it but she has been taking everything in stride.
wait, laid off, when did that happen?

I will advocate taking a baseball bat to a plastic object in the near future.

Or something else physical, like lawn care, weeding, something to help keep you up. I'm sorry your dad got sick - but it's good the hospital is looking really close at him. Give your mom a bear hug, and if you can, take a half day off, get some pizza and just chill out with mom.

Ask the construction guys about roofing. Tell them you're willing to trade skills for roofing. You need it, they need work, there may be something they can do. And does your home insurance cover the roof? (no pun intended).

FYI toilets are very easy to reinstall. Google it, it's EASY.

Take care, and have a rum and coke with the pizza.

It's going to be two weeks without work this Friday. They ran out of work at the studio and production office.

The are finishing the drywall today. I'm THRILLED.
Hopefully they will be done by the end of the week as far as the renovation goes...Roofing not sure. Mom's is waiting for a quote from the guy redoing the bathroom. He is a friend of the family, so he will treat us well.

Dad went in for more tests an hour or so ago. His heart doctor talked to Mom while she was visiting and his arthritis doctor is stopping in later to check out blood work and stuff like that.

I'm home with the dog and the workers while Mom goes between home and the hospital. The poor dog is looking for Dad and is so upset with all these people coming in and out of her home, she tried to run away Monday. I grabbed her before she ran into the road. *puts head on table* Cause the dog doing something stupid is all we need.

We to visit Dad tonight, they are thinking he will be out sometime tomorrow as long as he doesn't have a fever.

The are thinking it was a bad allergic reaction to one of his rheumatoid arthritis medications. They are going to switch him to a chemo treatment since the arthritis is taking over much much faster than expected.

At least he's coming home... I hope the chemo treatment helps slow the arthritis right down.

                    Update again...
Looks like Dad won't be coming home today . His primary doctor (also known as the turtle, is it bad when the nurse calls him that?) hasn't looked at any of the million tests Dad had yesterday. So as of this morning he won't be released until tomorrow. I really hope he is home before Sunday, the plan is to not tell my grandfather that he was in the hospital, he has a hard time with family in the hospital and we don't want him to be stressed out, he comes over on Sundays and we don't want to lie about where Dad is. I don't know, I give up. I just want to go hide under my bed until spring.

If your dad just is there for tests, he may be allowed to go home for the weekend.
At least that's what they do here.

                          Maybe home today?
The turtle doctor still hasn't checked any tests.
They won't release him till that doctor has cleared him due to him being in the cardiac wing. It isn't his heart...but they put him there anyway. On top of that he has really low sodium...and they put him in the cardiac wing and won't let him have salt. Mom spoke to the head nurse of that wing last night who wouldn't listen to us or look at the info that said it WASN'T his heart. Also that his heart doctor said he needs more sodium and we don't want him staying even longer due to being sick because he isn't getting any. The nurse just blew Mom off, then left the room. We couldn't get a hold of his doctor last night so Mom called this morning and left a message at his office and then called and spoke to the a day nurse who is with Dad today to explain and ask that if she saw the doctor if it would be possible to have him call or to at the very least confirm so that if Dad has to stay longer, or ends up in the hospital again this doesn't happen. *sigh* It's not something big but he has REALLY low sodium and we'd rather he not get sick because of it.
But so far the heart doctor has cleared him.
His arthritis doctor has cleared him.
His primary doctor is a turtle and is the one who needs to clear him to leave and still hasn't, even with all the information waiting for him, and his office is the closest to Dad's room. Dad is considering taping a sign to his window saying HELP! Send the doctor! Because he can see the doctor's office window from his room.
The nurses have been awesome, other then the nurse last night. I'm really glad we ended up with such nice ladies working with Dad.

Sometimes you have to be persistent with some things, and at least you are happy with most of the people looking after your dad. It's not the same as having him at home though.

I'm sure he'll be out of there soon, keep your chin up as best you can. Keep your mobile charged and keep yourself busy x

I'm sorry to hear that. And yes, I do know what it's like. I'm sure I've posted about my own dad's cancer-related bullshit the past few months.

For those who didn't know, he collapsed and was complaining of chest pains at the gym several months back He spent the next few days at the hospital, and several tests were run. During one of the tests, he appeared to be showing signs of a cancer (with a long-ass name that I can't remember now)...and was supposed to go through surgery. Whatever meds he was on, made him alternate between being very jumpy, and very tired. The smallest things would literally send him into crying fits

But, that wasn't the only thing he was dealing with. Mid-way through all this shit, he was put on a reduced teaching schedule, and usually came home around noon. Not long after my grandmother died (back in August), he was in a serious auto accident. Some piece of shit ran a stop sign, and hit him head-on...destroying his new car, and landing him (again) in the hospital. Pardon my French, but he was pretty fucking lucky to only come away with serious bruising.

Since then though, his "tumor" (in quotes because it wasn't cancer) was removed, and he's doing better now. Still on a restricted diet, and has only been back to work less than 2 weeks. Car has been replaced, and he's started legal proceedings to bankrupt the guy.

                              Squeaks, hang in there, OK?

Dad finally is home! Yay! Of course he comes home to construction and confusion about who is doing the painting. That's ok I'm just glad he is home.

I'm sorry Protege, I understand completely, if you ever need to talk just PM me.
