  • Tried to be a gentleman long ago...

I'm not sure what reminded me of this, but...

When I was in high school, a large number of students liked to pull the fire alarms. ESPECIALLY when it was snowing. You'd think not being allowed to get your jackets would stop them. Maybe they liked to to go outside in -15°F while only wearing a shirt and pants. After a few times, I started to keep a few extra jackets in my backpack for easy access.

During one of these alarms. A girl started to complain that it was too cold and would someone lend her a jacket?

    I offered her one.

    Guess what she did?

    Go on, Guess.

She refused and said," I'm not that cold."

I never did lend out a jacket afterwords.

...what? She said she was cold, and then when you offered her warm, she said she wasn't cold...women are confusing. Doubly so because I am one, and would have gladly taken you on the offer of a jacket...

One thing that comes to mind at the current moment is that she wanted a particular person to give her their jacket. The person (whose name I can't remember) either refused to give her their jacket or ignored her. Probably both.

Then again, most of the people at the school were greedy. If you lent them something, They thought you were giving it to them to keep. I guess I was lucky in a way, I still have the jacket.

Don't give up on being a gentleman. There are women out there who'd appreciate your actions. I am sorry that spoiled brat didn't see what a good guy you are

Sounded like she wanted a jacket, just not yours. Or she hoped a popular guy would have heard her. Hope this hasn't changed how you react to people.

She was trying to get the cute guy she had a crush on to lend her his Letter jacket... it was nothing against you, you just weren't the right person. Sorry. and yes high school girls are confusing and dumb.

no i have never pulled that particular stunt... i think its lame - i'm usually more blunt about things like that, in that i address the guy who's jacket i want... any wonder i stayed single in hs?

Yeah, it's true. You were awesome, but you weren't the guy she wanted the coat from. Don't give up being true to yourself, despite how much it may suck alot.

I'm sure it was hard not to back then, but I hope into your adult life you didn't take it too personally.

Hey Plaid! I don't appreciate that. I'd appreciate anyone offering me a coat, and I am as single as they come. So yeah...

I really hope you haven't become a jerk because of that one girl. My brother used to be a sweetie, but girl's were not nice. Now he treats them like crap and they love him for it. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND MY GENDER!!!!

Anyway, that story reminded me of sometime last fall. The university did a surprise fire drill after swimming hour. Leaving everyone enough time to get dressed before they set off the alarm. I, however, was in the shower so i ended up standing outside in nothing but a bathrobe. I was soaking wet, and it was freezing out. Then everyone started asking me if I was naked under my robe. I was pissed off, cold, and embarrassed

                      I'm not.

I agree, she wanted a specific person to give her his jacket. Didn't work, I assume.

When I was in highschool, I had a good friend named Dave (really). Dave was a big, teddy bear of a guy and a real sweetheart. One chilly morning, our German class decided to hit up the closest Golden Arches. We walked. And of course we couldn't go to our lockers to get our coats. A couple of the girls (myself included) were all huddled around Dave.

To be honest..it seems a lot of females say they like the nice guy, but for some reason the ones that do must live far far away from where I live .
