So, for any other die-hard Buffy fans out there, do you remember back when the show ended they said they wanted to do a few movies to tie up the loose ends?
Well, it's not happening. But we ARE getting a reboot. None of the original cast will be there. Joss Whedon has nothing to do with it. And the writer? Just some chick who claims to have "really loved" the series when she was in high school (obviously not enough to see why she is setting up something she supposedly enjoyed for failure).
Look, you want to write your own story about a show you liked? Great, go to fanfiction.net like most people who aren't good enough to come up with something original. I admit it. I wrote a Buffy fanfic (but had the good sense to not publish it and will never speak of it again). But you, no, you went the extra mile and somehow sweet talked the WB execs into cashing in on the Twilight-induced vampire craze.
I love how they say fans have been "eagerly awaiting" Buffy's return to the screen. No, you ignorant jackasses. We've been waiting for our Buffy to come to the big screen. Not some other thing that kind of resembles it in some ways. For that matter, we gave up on the hopes of a movie a long time ago.
Joss Whedon sums it up quite nicely.

Everything is either a poorly-made adaptation from one medium to another or storylines ripped off of other movies and the only things changed are the names and the setting.
