  • I don't f#@king believe this

Remember this thread from a few months back?

My Mom's surgery went well, and she has been doing really well. She spent some time in the local hospital and then got transferred back to the nursing home.
I've been to see her a few times there and she was settled in.

She was transferred today to a nursing home closer to us.
(When she was admitted to the home, we had to write down 3 choices for a home, with our top choice as #1 and so on. The place she was in was #3, and the place she was transferred to was #2.)

Well, she was in the new place for less than an hour, and she fell again and broke her other hip.

They had thought her knee was broken as well, but they just think it's bruised or badly wrenched.

When my brother told me, I just couldn't believe it.

They aren't sure now if she will ever be able to put a full load on her legs at all, so she may be wheelchair bound for the rest of her life.

Her surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

    CRAP!!!!
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

bleh. How frustrating! I hope your mother isn't in much pain-- I'd say 'any pain,' but that's a tad unrealistic. After all, the best stuff only makes you not care about being in pain, iirc. I also hope that she isn't wheelchair-bound for the rest of her life. That just sounds depressing, even from over here. And, knee injuries are bad enough on youngsters, let alone anyone past college. Can you give her a hug from a strange internet girl, if she'll accept it? (ie from me)

That sucks Ree. Especially around the holidays, but then again when is there ever a good time for something like this to happen?

Keep us posted on your mom's progress and I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
