  • I has a Kindle!

Well...not yet, exactly. I have it in my possession, charging, but I'm not allowed to have fun with it until after our gift exchange, closer to Christmas. It's my husband's gift to me this year.

While I fully intend on hitting up Amazon for ebooks for most of my new book purchases from now on, I was wondering where I could find some good sites for free or cheap, or independently published stuff to put on it. I'm already aware of the Gutenburg project, and it will be nice to brush up on all that classical literature I've missed out on.

    Any other ideas?

This link is via Amazon UK's Free Ebook Collections

It points the way to a few websites with lots of free kindle books. I'm using the kindle reader for pc at the moment (hoping Santa will bring me a Kindle for xmas) and have collected a few books I've never got round to reading already
    Arp happens!

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

              Sweet!!!

I got my Kindle a few days ago as well. I love it. We're going to get married.

Thanks for all the free links! I found that Amazon has a bunch of the classics for free.

That's amazon's and if you keep an eye out, sometimes I've seen newer ones listed for free for limited amounts of time. Also, amazon lists a bunch of places here: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_link...d_i=1286228011

I got one for my birthday, and I LOVE it!

I got a Nook yesterday. I am totally in love!!!

Right now I'm reading 'Gunn's Golden Rules' by Tim Gunn of Project Runway. He's my new gay boyfriend.

Anyone who has a Nook and wants to share books via the 'lend me' feature, let me know.

Just be aware that sometimes those "free" ebook downloads are actually pirated and/or improperly formatted (usually an OCR scan of a book that turns into a wall of text thats full of transcription errors).

I'll stick with my iPad though.

The free ones from Amazon have proven ok. They do have a disclaimer saying they were basically retyped up by a group of volunteers. So I guess thats their way of saying there may be errors.

Shuddup you...with your fancy iPad. Psshh.

I'm going to get a Kindle, definitely. Don't need those other bells & whistles some of those other e-readers have. I want the thing for reading, after all. I have tons of stuff on my Amazon wishlist for this.

If you're a fact nut like me, I highly recommend this book, and it's a free download.

                              Oh woohoo!

My Mom keeps asking me how much Kindles cost and where to get them. She's not a reader. I think I might know what I'm getting for Christmas
