You have no idea - when you think it is a lot of work when you actually have the litter it's a lot more work than you actually thought and you are dealt with situations you'd never think of.

Whenever I get someone who is thinking about breeding dogs I ask a certain question that I won't repeat here because it is WAY too controversial.
She isn't considering breeding dogs, the canine program wants the dog to be bred. It is a slight difference =)

I want a male service dog, and I don't think it doesn't need to be trained to poop/pee on command, no time constraints =) I actually like walking dogs.

The poop/pee on command thing is because she's going to be a full public access service dog. You want to make sure the dog goes in appropriate places, and fully relieves itself before entering...say a mall or a movie theater where you might be indoors for a while.

Of course, when it's pouring down rain it does make it a lot faster and more convenient *ROFL*

Yes - part of making sure service animals become welcome everywhere, is making absolutely certain that service animals are well behaved. So all (responsible) service animal trainers and owners make sure they don't nuisance-bark, don't beg for treats, can sit/lie down nicely and as out of the way as feasible, and (very importantly) don't poo or pee inappropriately!

A properly trained service animal is likely to be the best behaved customer/client you'll ever see.

        2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
        3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
        4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Yes and it sounds like the whelping will be done at the OP's house meaning she'll be doing all the work.

Different reasons, same amount of stressful work. 8 weeks never comes fast enough when you're in the 5-8 week old range.

Pooping / peeing on command is *very* helpful. Don't think the dog will squat the instant you say it but they will go faster than a normal dog.

Learn areas that have special places for service dogs. SeaWorld (Orlando) has a small area just for service dogs (bathroom). You wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it and it's a good size, too.

That was sort of my thought, if you're getting a service dog is it an obligation to let that dog stay in the breeding program? Because having the dog unspayed and being in charge of her care during pregnancy is a hell of a lot of extra work. The dog is supposed to be there to make your life easier...

Sorry, last couple days have been insane

It is not an obligation, just a request...and one I most likely will be turning down

At any rate, she's here! And she's doing fabulously!

                        Pics, as promised!

I second XCashier's "fuzzy an' snuggly" sentiments... and wish to add, Tuli looks like she could be the devil himself if she wanted to be! She 'looks' smart, just an intuition gamble. Is that you in the pic?
