  • I has Nook!

Just picked it up (returned the Pandigital)

I splurged for the Color Nook, and while I have only been playing with it for about an hour or so, I love it.

My first free book was Grimm's Fairytales....and I have Tailchaser's Song and Hitchhiker's Guide saved in Google Books.

This is going to be VERY dangerous.......

Yay!! There are a ton of free books. Also there is usually a free book on Friday, through the nook (go to shopping and it is one of the specials at the bottom). Most if not all the classics are free.
Coffee should be strong, black and chewy! It should strip paint and frighten small children.

Yay! I played with the color nook in the store. My boss is semi-seriously considering getting one.

Now I have to find a nice case so I can actually carry it with me

Mine is close to this one (note both hubby and I have the original nooks, I don't know if the color is a different size)
                http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Mont...?cds2Pid=36174

Hubby has one with snaps on it, but the same style

I would advise against the ones that look like envelopes. You have to pinch right where the buttons are. Plus it was hard to get out. Best Buy is also carrying nook accessories and they have some nice cases.

I think a lot of those free Friday books are the first books in series, if I'm remembering the email they sent out a few weeks ago correctly; they're trying to get you sucked in! Mwahahaha!!!

[snip] I don't know if the color is a different size)
...Best Buy is also carrying nook accessories and they have some nice cases.
                  The color is slightly larger.

As far as looks go (I don't have one) I like the Alice cover. Looks like the first page of Alice in Wonderland. (Though it's white canvas; I don't know how easy it is to clean.) But that's the book freak in me. (Not sure if they make it for the color, either.)

Or you could go all out and get the $195 Jack Spade leather cover...

Best Buy and Walmart both carry nook; they only have a small selection of accessories, though I think they carry some other (non-B&N) cases that might fit.

I got one for christmas and I love it! *cuddles nook* I don't have any free books on it though. I need to go put a default credit card on my account and I'm hesitating with that.

You can use gift cards, can't you? I don't keep a credit card on my iTunes account because I know I would rack up more than I realize; I buy gift cards instead so I can only spend what I have and I can see when I'm spending $30 or whatever and not get surprised when the bill comes.

If anyone wants to be friends on the 'lend me' feature, hit me up via PM.

I don't have much of a collection yet, but I do have a couple of titles that appear to be lend-me approved.

I was thinking of getting an e-reader, but I'm not sure which. Doesn't the back-lit screen of the Nook Color get hard to read after a while? I thought that was the reasoning behind the decision not to back-light the original Nook, and all the others.
