  • I love driving on skating rinks

We don't get much ice here in the high desert,it's mostly dry, fluffy snow.It can be 8-10" deep & I have no problem, the high $ all-terrain tires I have are perfect for that.
But on the rare occasions when we do get ice it gets nasty dealin' with the hills.
Had to stop for 20 minutes while I assume they pulled another car out,saw the lights of the cops & tow truck but I was 10 cars back.

Then the pickup in front of me started sliding (obviously no 4WD) & I thought he was gonna slide backwards into me,luckily he didn't.Passed several cars off the road & one 3 car crash.

I was at rehearsal,a trip that normally takes me 20-25 minutes (15 miles) took over an hour.

Yes,I am having a large drink of whiskey, wouldn't you?

I just bought a lovely bottle of cherry porte (yes, that's how it's spelled), if you want a hit on that.

I hate ice. I don't drive but walking on it scares the crap out of me.

I woke up to the joys of freezing fog this morning. My parking lot was OK, but when I hit the park-n-ride where I catch the train every day. Let me just say, Ford Rangers are fun to take ice skating. And 4-wheel-drive only helps so much.

It does goin' uphill from a dead stop.Like I said, the 2WD pickup in front of me was doin' the sideways slide, his Trac-Loc didn't kick in 'til his tires revs were too high to grab,I had it in 4WDLow & just took my foot off the brake to move,no drama.

It helps me get going, but no help with stopping, or the other idiots that don't have a clue how to drive even in good conditions.

If you know what you are doing 2WD trucks aren't that bad.. I've gotten to the point, that I can anticipate the drive wheels loosing traction, and adjust accordingly before it becomes a problem.
