  • It's a sad day for me.

Not a really bad day but I did something I didn't want to do since our BR a few years ago.

I got a credit card. (Plus I requested a second one for my wife). I got it today.

The main concern is so that my wife can rent a car while she is in NYC for Westminster (dog show) but I also know it will help rebuild our credit.

Thank god it only has a $750 limit, if anything I plan to use it for small purchases and pay it off each month.

A good way to use but not abuse a card is to buy your gasoline with it. It is something you already buy and you are not prone to splurge buy. If you use an online bill pay, when you get home after filling up, pay it.

Also a phone or utility bill. That's something that you can pay off every month that you can put on your card. If you do it in addition to using it to buy gas you'll actually be better off. Believe it or not you run the risk of having your limit reduced and your credit score lowered if you don't use your card enough or use enough of the credit on it.

Yeah, I know if I don't use it that it can lower my score.

I'm sure I'll make small purchases with it each month - the gas is actually a good idea (too bad I don't buy gas often - company car for work)
