The nurse (not the dr. -- pissed that she didn't call me back herself) did call me back yesterday to tell me that I should take the pills continually for three months, then break for a week, then repeat. The problem with that is that three packs != three months of pills, since each pack has 21 pills, three packs would be 63 pills -- just over two months. So I'd need four packs to actually cover three months. And after talking to my insurance yesterday, they won't cover me for that unless the dr. re-writes the RX differently, and frankly I'm done dealing with that dr. and her moron nurses.

So, after spending a long time on the phone yesterday, I got an appointment in a couple of weeks with a different dr (I actually think her title is Physician's Assistant, or something like that), at a different office, run by a different organization. Thankfully I do still have another pack of my old BC pills that I can take in the mean time. I did call Planned Parenthood, and I could go in for a consult appointment and they'd give me an RX, but my insurance doesn't cover them, and the consult fee is like $60. And they said they could only give me a 6mo supply with a consult fee and then I'd have to come back and have another one done (alternately, they could do an annual exam and then give me a year's supply, but that includes a pelvic exam and pap smear so...no.)

I also sent off a rather strongly worded email to the... *checks* Clinical Services Coordinator of the clinic I was at, telling them why I am pissed and why I am not coming back to their facility. I sent it somewhat later in the afternoon yesterday (Thursday) and actually got a response back last night stating that they were going to check in to things, but I haven't heard anything else. I really don't care at this point. Nothing they can say or do will change my mind about not going back there, but I just can't keep my mouth shut when I get pissed off in situations like this so I decided to email them.

I loved my very first primary care provider, who was also a nurse practitioner. Unfortunately, she practices some 1500 miles away from me, in Wisconsin, so getting back to her isn't exactly easy. If I ever plan to go see my parents around this time of year, though, I'd make my annual with her in a heartbeat.

Sometimes nurse practitioners or physician's assistants can be better, because they tend to have a little more time to spend with the patient. I tried to get an appointment in September, and the doctor was booked until January. I didn't want to wait that long, but I was able to see the NP the next week. Plus I felt like she spent more time on me than the doctor usually does.
