We have a new family member

Yesterday a bundle of joy arrived at my mom's house. He was not delivered by a stork, but rather a wonderful rescue group who decided that we were allowed to give him a forever home. Prepare for the cuteness.

So adorable, I've never seen a mane like that. Seems like he's made himself right at home.

Close - supposedly he's a GSD/Chow/smidge of Akita mix. His name is Dakota and he's my mom's new puppy - she fell head over heels for him once she saw his pic. He's fitting in perfectly with the other four dogs, the older Shepherds are being the parents and the younger dogs are the "big sisters" that he tears through the yard with. (Yes, my parents live in the country and have a huge backyard).

First is Ella, our female GSD - she's a long-haired.

Second is Yulson, our male GSD - he's the one in the earlier pic and he's a plush (Think fuzzy teddybear)

Third is Noelle, our lab.

Finally is Kaylee, our something blonde mixed with something dumber than a rock (But she's the lovebug of the group)

I think she's my favorite (any dog that wants to snuggle is OK in my book)

My friend has a yellow lab; her sister has a black lab, her mom has a bassett hound, and her niece has a black lab/bassett hound mix. (Yes, they all share a two-family house and none of these dogs are fixed for reasons I cannot fathom. The black lab is the only boy.) The lab/bassett looks like her mother (the bassett) but a little bigger, and her ears are somewhere between bassett hound-length and lab-length. And when she howls too much she starts to lose her voice, and sounds like a seal.
