  • So how are everyone's classes going?

Well? I think a lot of people started back this week, although I also know some people start next week. Lucky ducks.

Mine actually seems to be ok. I'm very glad Senior Seminar is a pass/fail, though. There was also a hilarious moment at the end of that class--we all had gotten in a circle and were going around and saying our name and what we want to do with our degree, etc...and it got to this one guy, who was like, "Hi, my name is Jay and I've been substance-free for the last six months..." It did kind of feel like one of those meetings.

In Cognitive Processes, not only is my instructor pregnant, at least 3 other people are pregnant, too. My prof was like "Don't drink the water!"

I am also the only psychology major in my Phonology & Morphology class. Everyone else is in English or Anthropology for some reason...

But yeah. How is everyone's time back?

Mine is decent so far. I got the math teacher I wanted (she's freaking amazing) and am finishing up all my associates degree courses, which means I get to start my dietetics courses in the fall (finally!). I enrolled in 2 phys ed courses too, cuz I'm a glutton for punishment apparently. I'm just glad to be back in a structured routine again. I lurve school ^_^

Probably going to drop a class. Due to flu, weather, and stress..am so far behind I may never catch up now.

I actually haven't started yet. Classes were canceled Mon-Wed this week due to inclement weather, meaning I'm 12 hours behind getting content out.

I'm really looking forward to getting things rolling.

I start Monday. I'm excited, though a little apprehensive because I don't think any of my textbooks will be here by then - they originally got destroyed in the mail and I had to organize a replacement, which was ridiculously complicated and is gonna take a while.

My semester started this past Monday, and it looks like another busy one. I already have 2 group projects, 1 major paper, and a 1-2 page paper every week assigned, and I haven't started my third class yet. At least for my group projects, I'm working with a few of the class members I've worked with before, so I know we'll get things done. It also helps that the classes are looking very interesting, especially the science and the computer forensics class.

I'm so glad that I took a mental break between semesters - except for getting things straightened out after the van accident, I did nothing stress-related, and I feel refreshed and ready for the new semester.

I start a distance learning course (Open University) officially on the 5th February, although the course website will be available from next Monday, so I can make a start then

This time, I will NOT procrastinate... maybe
                Arp happens!

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

Classes technically start on the 21st (yes, on a Friday. Makes *no* damn sense.) But since we don't have discussion sections meet before the first lecture, I don't have class on that day. I also only have MWF classes this semester - yay!!

I'm starting back again on Tuesday. Ugh. Not looking forward to it. At least it's only 5 classes this semester.

I already intensely dislike one of my professors, and she is the only one teaching the class (most other classes have multiple lecturers). She gave us a "How to succeed in college" speech. We are 2nd semester juniors. Unlike our other professors, who tailor their teaching to where we are in the program (I'm only briefly going to go over drugs because you should know them. I'll give you a basic overview of a precursor condition because you won't really know about the precursor until 4th semester but you need to know the basics about it to understand this concept.), this professor has no clue where we are. She doesn't teach clinical stuff, so it's not so important, but it was quite annoying to listen to her say stuff like "WHEN you start working with patients."

My other classes seem ok. I'm anxious to get back to working with patients, because that is by far my favorite part of school. I start psych clinicals next week and regular hospital patients sometime in early February. The paperwork for my regular hospital patients looks SCARY this semester. I hope I get a good hospital.

I start Spanish at the local community college next Wednesday. I'm a bit worried about my load with that additional class, but the class was super cheap so I won't feel bad if I drop it.

I start back today, and my first class isn't for another hour.

My Cognitive Processes prof is beginning to bug me a little. She doesn't make her notes available [which is fine in and of itself]. But she expects us to write down everything in her presentation...and it's a TON of information. Plus, all the stuff she says, besides that. It's like she's reading from the textbook, there's so much info. Hello, we cannot write that much, that fast, and you're making it boring as hell. Cognitive Processes is already boring as hell. Thanks.

Also, shankyknitter, that would bug the hell out of me. You aren't freshmen; if you haven't figured out how to succeed by now, you probably would not still be there.

So far my classes have been great, and all the instructors for the most part are "with the program" and everything correlates to what's taught in other courses. I've really been enjoying myself and the only exceptions are a "self-and-culture" type class where the instructor is a Psychotherapist with his own practice who doesn't really seem that keen on teaching, and is having an incredibly difficult time getting the class to relate to him. In addition he wants us to do this incredibly stupid (my opinion) report on a culture other than our own and how it might affect the way they're approached in a medical setting, and my Anatomy and Physiology instructor who makes what I would normally consider a fascinating topic about as interesting as watching grass grow. Yesterday the entire class was struggling to keep awake during the two hour lecture as he droned on and on and on.

Now if this snow would melt and Spring would come early, I'd be thrilled!!!

School was delayed two hours this morning, which meant I had to start my class an hour late I'm already 12 hours behind due to inclement weather earlier this week, but I did a pretty good job of catching up.

The funny part was all the students checking in with me to make sure we were still having class that day. The instructors for another section thought that because classes were delayed til 10 that their 9 am class was canceled. It would have been if it were a 50 minute or 80 minute class. But their class is 150 minutes, so they were only delayed.

They got to campus 30 minutes late, and had to hunt for parking
