I think the kids are finally ok. It took forever for hubby to get a hole dug..the ground is frozen.
When he went to lift her out of her cage into the little box, he just broke down crying. Her eye was open and she was looking at him. I had to get her out and put her in the box with her christmas stocking and some wooden chew toys she loved.

I know how you feel, Amina. A few years ago, before Isis (sister's cat) actually died, I thought I had run her over with the car on (major highway). I was so upset-- and I just wanted to pet Isis-- but she was gone! 
(fortunately, I heard her crying at the door to get let in, not five hours later.)
