  • FUCK!

So, had a stressful weekend. Went to see my mom in the hospital. She was in horrid pain most of the time, and after getting her dose of pain meds, slept most of the time. Right before we left, she was doing a bit better.

...Then we go to the airport, get through TSA, and while waiting for the wife to get something to drink, I decide to check facebook.

I grew up with this guy. Was in Boy Scouts together. Was in a band together. One of my only friends through most of my school years. He died today of complications from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was 26 years old, and a loving husband.

Had a beer in his name today. You'll be sorely missed, Keith.

I'm so sorry. Never thought checking Facebook could be sad.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Take care and we're here if you need to talk.

        26?
... That's like, in a year for me. That's really creepy.
And it stinks that you found out that way. When did you last talk to him (if I may ask)?
        Hugs?

A few months ago on XBox Live (He lived in Texas, and I live in Utah now.)

I've been watching his updates on facebook both by his wife and by him. They also had a fundraiser setup to pay for his treatments (Normal Chemo/Radiation treatments didn't help, so the next step was a stem cell treatment that cost WAY more than they could afford.) I found out about his death as announced on his fundraiser. :-(

All of his friends have been posting notes to his facebook. I did the same:

Keith was always a great friend, and although I haven't seen him in years due to geographical distance, I still fondly remember playing guitar together, attending boy scout camping trips, and generally geeking out over some new tech. You were a true friend during many periods when I had none. You died too soon, but I find solace in the end to your suffering and pain.

            Rest in peace, friend.
