Okay, I'm going to jump in here and put in a formal request to join FTS.
Welcome aboard! I can commiserate with the change of jobs and weight gain. When I quit working in the ER and started teaching is when I really started to pack on the pounds.

I'll be taking a longer break than anticipated - official diagnosis this morning: pneumonia.
I am so sorry to hear it's pneumonia. It may take awhile for you to feel well enough to work a regular program. But you CAN do some light and simple stretches to keep limber until you are ready.

If you start thinking over the weekend, "I don't know if Monday's coming soon enough," get to the ER with thee!

    • With antibiotics you should begin feeling better tomorrow. It really works that fast if the germs isn't resistant.

I hope that sounded as encouraging as I meant it to .

Fuck that formal shit. Do we seem like a formal bunch around here? Just jump right in and get your ass moving!

Once the weather warms up, I'm buying another bike and I'm going to work up to riding to work during the week.
Why wait? Think of the workout you could get biking in the cold. Besides, bikes might be cheaper now than in the summer.

        Just a thought.

Today was a Failure Day. I took the day off from work (had a coworker who wanted extra money cover my shift) with the idea of working out, running some much-needed errands, and working in my kitchen in preparation for tomorrow's chicken wings cookoff, my second in two weeks.

        Errands? Check.
Kitchen? Check. However, I diddled around much of the day, so didn't get into the kitchen until this evening.
        Workout? Not so much.
Tomorrow's workout? Not happening. But tomorrow is a Known Non-Workout Day, as it's the chicken wings cookoff. Unless I drink a lot less beer and eat a lot less chicken wings than last time, I won't be hitting the gym any time tomorrow!

Sunday I plan on hitting the gym or the bike HARD. All I have going on on Sunday is a private magic show I booked for a birthday party....and that's Sunday night. I have the whole day to get my ass sweaty!

Monday, sadly, I will not be able to work out, as I am working a rare double, actually waiting tables that night for the first time in months, due to a coworker getting married that day.

So, still struggling with the laziness/procrastination, but working on it!

Keep it up, kids! After all, muffin tops only belong on muffins!

(This post was put up this morning because apparently last night when I hit the button to post this, I didn't really. Or something like that.)

        • I've been keeping track of my diet over the past week. In particular, I've been looking at how many calories, and how much sodium (since my blood pressure has been up lately).

I can't believe just how much sodium I've been eating. I don't add much salt to my food . . . but I've been added more than I thought when I cook, and some things that I thought were low in sodium are anything but.

My daily sodium intake is about 2.5 gms. It should be 2 or less. That right there would probably fix my blood pressure issues. The cure is simple. Fix more of my own food and eat out less. I figured Subway would be low sodium (I usually get the turkey breast). Thought wrong. It'll be cheaper too.

I'm on track with the exercise, and I'm burning more calories than I take in. Portion control is helping, though I'm hungry a lot. Now it's time to start looking more closely at what I eat, and trying to eat more healthy things.

Had a good TKD workout last night, and planning to go again to the day class later this morning. Slept like crap last night due to a massive line of thunderstorms from around midnight to well past 3 am that triggered a massive migraine. Hopefully a work out will give me some energy. I have a rare day off and I'd like to get some work on the house done.

            • I feel a lot better now that I've had my workout. Gonna finish lunch, grab a shower, and get the grocery shopping done. Gonna have to get my stretching bar put together this afternoon and see how it's going to work on my groin stretches.

I'll be taking a longer break than anticipated - official diagnosis this morning: pneumonia. So that means plenty of bed rest, meds, and inhalers. If there is no change by Monday my doc wants me in her office for a reassessment and has warned me that I will likely be going from her office straight to the hospital.
Please do keep a eye on yourself. Pneumonia is a killer if not dealt with early enough or if hits the person hard enough. I know from the loss of my husband.

                *hugs*

                    • I'll join, informally .
I have just returned from a bike ride along Copenhagens south harbour. 21.8 km, but only an average of 16 km/h.
Beautiful old ships, ships cats who pad down the gangway to be petted, nice graffiti (yes, I know, but check this wall), sunshine and water. All of it tend to slow you down.
I still think it was good for me. I'll go again tomorrow.

On a side note, I am feeling better today than I have in a week! I'm still taking it easy though as I lay here on the couch with my notebook I'll probably spend the rest of the day drinking tea, playing video games, and talking to my son. It's great for bonding time if nothing else LOL
Good for your son! Kudos to him. And I'm very happy to hear you are feeling better.

Had a really fun day, went for a walk round a local bog (very pretty) and then went 10 pin bowling (with a side of DDR).

                          • I signed up for a 6 week Yoga class at a local studio, starting next week. It's pretty cheap and from online reviews, it sounds like a regular people place, not a place full of botoxed perfect women. The push for finals is beginning and I could use some relaxation through it.

                            • I had three things planned for today. Work out, memorial service on a boat for a recently departed friend, and a private magic show.

I was lazy and only got the last two accomplished.

Tomorrow, due to a staff member's wedding, I am pulling double duty--my usual bar shift during the day, then a table-waiting shift at night. So no gym again for me, though of course I'll get a decent workout in that nice little 12 hour or so shift.

That being said, Tuesday I Begin Again....I am determined to really start hitting it and stop being a lazy fuck.
